Cooking is like one of science major actually , it is really vast and I bet no one know all tricks because all tricks mostly come from experience . Chef Lee know this and also learn from RSY

Cumin in Indian cuisine is like a must. The powder form is mostly used for sandwiches or snacks and the unpowered form is used in all curries or sabji(cooked vegetables with Indian spices). It not only tastes good but is good for body especially stomach.

Cumin is very strong so add very little as it can leave a bitter taste if burnt but it's very good for digestion, gastric problems. Used a lot in Indian dishes. That girlfriend will definitely get impressed eating that dish

I will give you my family’s recipe for garlic shrimp. 1 lb. shrimp, half a stick of butter, one head of garlic, 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 mini sprite, 2 tablespoons of cornstarch dissolved in water, and pepper. (Follow his steps, when the shrimp is half way cooked, take the shrimp off the pan, and add the sprite. Let it boil a bit. After 3 mins, put the shrimp back and cook in the sauce. Add some of the cornstarch bit by bit and don’t finish off the cornstarch slurry. You only want a little bit of stickiness, and not clumps). Green onion to garnish. Eat voila. DO NOY PUT CUMIN LIKE HE DID!

what's great is that if you don't feel comfortable cooking with the shell's on (sometimes they hold heat and can overcook the shrimp if you aren't careful), you could easily do it with uncooked shrimp with the shells off. RSY's recipes are great because they are simple and easy for beginners but if you have more experience, you can use it as a guide. You can add other ingredients and flavors that you could like. You could use a Mexican beer in the beer cheese or Mexican cheese if its available to you. Adding a Mexican hot sauce would be great if you want a kick in the sauce as well! See, totally on the fly I found a few ways to add to the recipe without feeling overwhelmed or changing the it completely.

I love chiles with cumin. My ex taught me how how to make rice with annato, refried beans, tortillas and salsas and marinades for meat, all of the basics for Mexican food. I had to teach myself how to cook Japanese, Korean, and, Indian, and, Thai home cooking. My Filipina roommate taught me Filipino cooking. I feel like I'm pretty well rounded in my culinary skills. I can, also, cook Western foods, and even know some basic African recipes.

And more. Chinese? Yes please. I miss living in California, even in Escondido I had access to a wide array of food.
