I think she looks beautiful in both looks! ♥️ When her partner said they wouldn’t be with her, I found that rather sad. How superficial. There is more to a relationship than just looks. I’m a goth and my boyfriend always compliments my appearance regardless how extreme or toned down my makeup and outfits are. He himself isn’t alternative and he tells me I’m beautiful with and without my piercings. He compliments me just as much when I’m in a full look versus when I have to take my piercings out and wear neutral makeup and suits for job interviews. I know if I were to suddenly change my wardrobe tomorrow, it wouldn’t phase him at all because I’m the same person underneath.

Hedgehogf98, sounds like you've got yourself a winner there! My husband puts up with different looks on my part too, but they're all pretty tame, mostly hair color and tattoos. But I have been known to dress up in really retro clothes and wigs. He's a bit shy and "normal" (I hate that word) After we'd been together a while, I got him to dress up Steampunk with me to a Halloween Circus, and in 2013, we went to the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary movie, I went as the exploding TARDIS (it was cool how many Whovians picked right up on that) and he wore a 4th Doctor scarf and hat. And last year, he even colored his hair! And in 2022, after we got married, we got matching tattoos. He only has a couple, I have a lot more, but it is in a very visible place unless he wears long sleeves. When I met him, he wouldn't even do highlights in his hair. Our looks and selves have grown together. Tsk, sorry I told this all out of order! So you do you, my Goth friend. I think being an enormous fan of The Crow, I really appreciate the Goth look. Even before I saw the movie I liked it though. The Cure were really big when I was growing up, do Goth people still listen to them, as when I was young? 💙

I dragged my parents to conventions as a teenager and met David Tennant and Billie Piper. I’ve managed to get my boyfriend to watch a few episodes with me. 😄 He loves his waistcoats and shirts but for Halloween, he will wear spooky makeup. He happily comes along to gothic markets and Japanese conventions with me which I really appreciate. 🥹 Many goths nowadays listen to bands like In This Moment, Motionless In White, and so on. My alternative friends definitely do still listen to The Cure as well though! My favourite band at the moment is Lorna Shore. 😃

As someone who dresses very alternative, wears a lot of fuzzy pastels and always platforms (even tho I’m 5’9 naturally 😂) this made me sad. Her partner was so disgusted it killed the whole mood. You could see how shocked but happy she looked when she saw herself in the mirror, despite it being outside her comfort zone, and you can tell she loved the look, even if she wouldn't normally wear it herself. I will say, it's really sad the reaction her partner had. Her drag mother was honest but supportive, but it's obvious how much her partner's reaction hurt her, even if she laughed about it. It's disappointing to see such a creative, talented, beautiful person be with someone who won't appreciate her if she doesn't fit their ideal look.
