You can tell about midway through the second verse she’s bunching her phrases together as a signal to the conductor to speed it up cause he was going too slow. But he never got the hint so she had to use muscle memory combined with the slower tempo which must have been SO hard live. She pulled it off like a champ though. That was dope.

@@jovytas6989 they have different vocal ranges. Ms. Lea interpreted it in her own way. Of course, Lady Gaga's version, as the original, is more raw and emotional esp with her raspy voice. Ms. Lea doesn't have that in her voice due to her classical and musical theater background. It's the same way Lady Gaga cannot sing "A whole new world" from Aladdin, "Reflection" from Mulan and songs from Ms. Saigon like Ms. Lea (the original) does. She has a lot more control and choice of tone, because she has a higher soprano voice. She can do beautiful things that Lady GaGa will never be able to do in that range. But in this song, Lady Gaga uses the imperfections in that range, her breaks and airy placement to create vulnerability. Lea Salonga is on the opposite spectrum on this song. She has perfect control. Just as an opera singer. That is a whole different experience. If Lady Gaga wanted to do that, she would have pitched the entire song way down. But vulnerability is the very essence of that song. Gaga is a spectacular singer with a stunning deep alto voice and huge range. Not taking away from Lea Salonga - she has crystalline highs. Beautiful soprano voice, very smooth in the highs and across the entire range.

Lea Salonga has crystal clear voice. Her technical ability differentiates from any other singers in the philippines. Comparable to american artists. Remember Disney's movie. Regine is for philippines masa only. Not for international stage. Thank you

I've watched many covers, especially the cover by Phillipines divas, I must admit, Lea Salonga is the BEST! I don't know about musics technicalities but as for the emotions, and sound, The Winner is definitely LEA SALONGA. no comparison to Lady Gaga needed because that's her song, but as for other covers, Lea Salonga tops everyone. At least for me.

I have really high expectation after listening to Gaga's version, her dynamics and compatibility between her vocal expression and the lyrics are just impeccable. Ok so hands down, this has got to be the best cover of this song FOR ME. I really have this bad habit of watching a movie after a month or two, no matter how exciting or how good the review. Ayoko kasing maging bias yung opinion ko with all the hype. This song in the movie moved me. Tears and all, and sa cover lang ni leah nafeel ko yung emotion. A good singer knows the song, but a great singer feels the song. And leah is one great hell of a singer. Salamat sa kirot. :,). Punyetang ill never love again na to.
