In a world where stars are born through American Idol-It's refreshing to see real music being played and enjoy. Thanks to Tommy, Joe and Michael - Keep it up!!!!

You are absolutely right !!!! We always wonder - “If so & so dies - who could ever take his place.” Here’s one example where a very young person - never ever heard of - comes on stage and shows himself to be almost as good as Tommy Emmanuel.

Tommy Emmanuel is one of the greatest guitarists on the planet. And he LOVES music, songs, and performance. And, he loves sharing the love with other great guitarists…c'mon, does it get any better than this? Gawd, he's EVERYWERE on youtube….how much better does it get than this for a fan of music? Thank you, sir!

Tommy is a very nice person but he is annoying to listen to unless you want to hear every possible arrangement in one go. I don’t. I like to savor interpretations-not be bombarded with every possible interpretation. Just because you can does not mean you should. What is Tommy’s style? He doesn’t have one. He has every style. Again. It’s a wonder but I don’t find it restful.
@robertlee80426 жыл бұрын
To prove my point compare the worldwide adulation of Merle Travis whose ability for pyrotechnics on the guitar was ridiculously primitive compared to Tommy. Merle brought out the song. Not Merle. Anyone can play like Merle. No one can play like Tommy. Who’s the icon in the history of guitar instrumentality? Ten or a hundred people who are NOT guitar players know who Merle is compared to one who’s heard of Tommy. And yet anyone can play like him. ALMOST. One of the most annoying things that Tommy does is play everything too fast. Not everyone can do that. That doesn’t mean it should be done. It’s not a damned race.

I'm really enjoying this get together of the three (3) guitarists. I wish it included more of Michael Fix (the player on the far left) but, you know it's been done on an iPhone and they're not easy to aim very well. But, how about the solo by the young fella in the middle Joe Robinson he really nails it at 2:01 to 2:36.

Love this video....but can't get over the absolute crassness of the person who kept blocking the camera, just to get his own stupid shots...whoever you are, you mostly blocked Michael Fix throughout the clip, and robbed the audience of seeing the whole trio playing! IMHO, the best guitar version of this piece is by Chet Atkins and Mark Knopfler - check out the one put up by DogSwede1. And watch Knopfler's face at Chet's first lick at 1:36 when he starts his solo. And remember, guys, technique and speed are great, but it's really about the MUSIC.
