Sonic Frontiers definitely isn't perfect, there is a lot of genuine things to complain about, but the things that ARE good are REALLY GOOD, like HOLY CRAP levels of good, like the character writing, the open world gameplay on the first two islands, some of the guardians and OH MY GOD THE TITANS AND THE MUSIC It's the type of game where for the things i can praise, i praise them with so much exitement because of how good they are, i just really wish it stuck the landing at the end and maybe was given another year of development to fully realise the endgame

It gets even better when SEGA removes the Denuvo. funny thing is that Denuvo didn't do shit to the performace. Its just me configuring the game wrong. I sat the game on graphic card instead on CPU. having two frontier folder on different steam files crashed the game so I deleted it and modding crashed my game because I forgot to untick an option. Frontier's is not the fault here, your PC couldn't recognize the game spec requirment. Modding it makes it better, totally worth it.

Honestly, the reviews saying the game needs more content to be worth $60, I can kinda understand? The DLC roadmap in 2023 is supposed to add more content to the game, giving fans a better post-game experience, and the post-game experience at release isn’t that enticing, since it’s just roaming around the open zones at that point. So I guess once all 3 updates are added to the game, it’ll be better received? The game is fun already, but it’s clear Sega wants to add to the experience.

Imo, it's better than Odyssey. It doesn't have as much stuff to collect but I think that's in it's favor. Eventually Mario Odyssey just got boring to me, because I kept doing the same damn thing to get a Moon, only to see the same damn animation that takes at least 5 seconds, only to walk forwards to see another Moon to watch the same damn animation, then walked for a while and found the same damn thing as a previous Moon thinking "Oh right, I already got this one" only to see it was a completely different Moon. It was just so repetitive. Sure you can make the same case for Frontiers' challenges scattered throughout the zones, with them reusing some challenge ideas, but those are all optional and give you stat upgrades which you could buy from Big's fishing mini game, which the upgrades are optional as well, the only thing necessary is the Cyber Space levels and the only thing they reuse there is level themes. Not to mention, in Odyssey the bosses are way too easy and the only one to really offer a spectacle is fucking, Kalameet over there. In Frontiers, all the bosses offer a spectacle, and I'm one of the only people to like the final boss's first phase where it's like a Super Giganto, it really makes it seem like the boss is desperate to beat Sonic by making one of the old bosses go super, only part I don't like is Galaga. The story is also just better in Frontiers, same with characters, in Mario, and this applies to like the whole series except for the side games, the story has stayed almost the exact same with the "Princess Peach has been captured" plot and the only thing that's changed is the method of capture and the setting. Like even from Sonic 1-3K there was a more interesting story and setting, so I guess it's no surprise that Frontiers has the better and more ambitious story, since that's basically in all mainline Sonic games.

I use a trick called "Magnet Dashing" Essentially, you homing attack onto a target, but before hitting it, you cancel the attack with a boost. You point the analogue stick in the direction you want to go towards. It will give you a huge speed boost. It's used everywhere in the cyberspace levels

My issues with the game is that the pop in is bad but not gamebreaking but still in your face, I think the best parts of the open world is when you can run throught large structures like the section that gets revealed when you use a Lazer to blow up the ground in ares Island along with sections that naturaly come from the map, those are one of the funner sections is the open zone and the game could have benefited more from being physics-based at least to a degree because you already have wall running but it's limited to major areas and those sky rails. But I would be lying if I didn't enjoy how the rail system worked to some degree, like the travel aspect that worked for me. Mabe if they took the time to add more to the sky rails it could be a little better, but Sega is striking new ground and trying to find there footing with this and I know that should not be a factor but still.

iirc the pop in is caused by an issue with anti-aliasing. I've had a few friends tell me that disabling anti-aliasing has mitigated the issue a lot. There also is issues with physics and framerate. Now my device isn't the best, so I get framedrops every now and then. Whenever my frames drop, I experience issues I.e. phasing through springs, rails, etc. Most of the negative reviews I still feel are unreasonable, though.

I think it's just a matter of genre. What the fuck were people expecting from a 3D platformer, exactly? When was the last time you heard about a "must-play" 3D platformer which gets 9s and 10s across the board? The last one I can think of is Mario 3D World, and before that Mario Galaxy. And even then, their whole narrative was that those are really only for people who liked "oldschool" type games, and children. It blew my FUCKING MIND to find out that even Mario Odyssey is widely considered something of a disappointment

Ian Flynn is not the writer of the story hes only the general dialog writer and hes a bad one at that period I have a major beef with the guy. He ruined the characters of the Archie series and hes a rule nazi. Not to mention he basically cheated to get his way into this thing. Suffice it to say the only reason he did any good job was because he was kept on a short leash and supervised. If you think for one instance the man did any decent job outside of what he was supposed to do don't kid yourself people like me hate the guy for ruining the sonic the hedgehog comics. The man was known as a mass killer for writing stories that got a lot of good favorite characters killed off for no other reason than because the guy was following "the Lore." I should know, I had a sit down talk with him at Comic-Con over it.

Ken penders is to thank for the rules and mandates that killed off those characters and how they were handled in the archie comics after ken left tho. Also, the new IDW comics follow the games, unlike how the archie comics started out, (taking place right after forces), so it kinda makes sense why he would want to keep everything in line with "the lore." He even went as far as to say that he wouldn't argue against the comic stories in IDW taking place in the main universe of the games. Unless you're only referring to archie comics. Then understable since the archie comic series strayed so far from "the lore" in the games that it was kind of hard to consider it part of the same universe at all even with retcons.
