Disbelief is another element of traumatic experiences that people don’t really touch on. I totally understand where you’re coming from. I was attacked a year ago by a dog that basically ripped through my tear duct and bit into my face under my eye. After I got surgery on my eye, I just kept looking on the mirror and crying. It was so hard to accept the way I looked. I just couldn’t believe it. One day my face was how it’s always been and then in a matter of seconds everything changed. It left a scar under my eye. I’m getting surgery at the end this month to remove the scar but my surgeon didn’t make any promises. I’m praying everything goes well. Your hair is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I can see why you were so distraught initially. God gave you a beautiful face and the most thick beautiful hair and it pretty much covers up what happened. It will grow back so full and healthy, I pray you don’t lose your confidence. I know it’s hard, but you’re so beautiful in more ways than your appearance could ever express. I had to learn that for myself as well 🌹

When I was 10 years old I was jumping on a trampoline with a net around it. I was jumping with one of my brothers and our parents told us not to be on the trampoline that day and we went on it anyways. He double bounced me and my hair was braided with beads on the end and it wrapped around the trampoline net. It pulled 3 braids out at the front of my hair and it was completely gone. My mom was inconsolable. I even tried to glue it back. Most traumatic experience of my life I had to wear cover ups for about a year until it was long enough to gel down into a ponytail.

Omg this same thing happened to me when I was younger. I had cornrows in my hair and was jumping on the trampoline and two braids ended up getting caught onto the basketball goal that was alongside the trampoline and literally snatched TWO FULL cornrows out of my head. I was crying so hard and so was my moms. Shit was so traumatic😩
