I buy my steel cut oats in 50 lb bags :) Try blending dates and water and then using that to cook steel cut oats in the Instant Pot (5 mins high pressure with natural release). Then add ground flax seed, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and some fruit. Have this every morning and it's so satisfying.

Gabriel, this is wonderful advice from somebody who has walked the walk. 2LB weight loss per week is optimal for most people. On the diet you describe hunger is not an issue. Your gut micro-biome will flourish and the weight loss will be accompanied by huge improvement in all around health. You are a rock of sense amidst the gale of fad diets. Brilliant job.

You're amazing! Thank you Gabriel!! I've done a lot of research from a lot of great sources and I have not found anywhere, something that aligns more or makes more common sense than this method/approach. First time ever I've even felt compelled to write a comment on youtube. I am going to try this out with full commitment. I have 32 days until my wedding- will let you guys know how it goes!

Maybe it helps if you also loose the cheese and dairy ? And watch the oils like a hawk. If you sauté your onions in a little bit of water instead of oil, it helps. If you use a dressing on your salads that is oilfree it helps. And for weightloss: use nuts only in tiny amounts to sprinkle on foods instead of as snacks. Keyword: caloric density. For example Oil, nuts and avocados are very calorie dense. Avoid those if you want to loose weight. They don't fill your stomach, but they do provide lots of calories, so you are likely to overeat (I learned from Dr Neil Barnard). Don't loose heart. You will get there. All the best.

No potatoes? I do like potatoes and here in Germany sweet potatoes are a bit variable in availability but we have lots of types of potatoes and one local organic store even had a Kartoffelfest (Potato Festival) recently - I do have an electronic pressure cooker and do cook a lot of brown rice and beans in that - and have a weekly bean that I keep in the fridge too for throwing in a salad. Interestingly celery stalks are not a big thing here and I tend to use celery stalks as a basis for stocks and soups because the quality isn't that good but celery does add a good taste to the soup / stock.

Quick question: During your weight loss phase, did you eat salads twice a day, in addition to other lunch and dinner meals? If so, what kind of lunches and dinners did you eat during this time, following the salads?
@PlantBasedGabriel6 жыл бұрын
I did eat the salads twice a day. I would eat them first and then move onto the main dish that was starch based. That would be rice and beans with hot sauce or salsa, split pea soup, veggie stir fry with rice, quinoa. Pretty much all of the recipes on my channel or my website are ones that I ate while I was losing the weight.

Hey BoBo BoBo, for those of us who can really only afford a "Walmart priced diet" I can honestly tell you I spend about $60 every TWO WEEKS or so, and that is just for me alone, because my wife refuses to eat this way. My most costly items are tofu and fruits and you don't HAVE to eat those if you don't like them obviously. My prices are higher when I tack on things like rice or flax milk or I need to add in canned veggies (for simplicity) or things like jarred or bottled sauces. The more "prepared" the food is, the more expensive it becomes. For example, a bag of no oil fries is around $3 and equates to about 4-5 potatoes, but I can buy 10 lbs of potatoes for ~$5 and just make my own.

I believe that WFPB WOE is the answer but I am discouraged. Can you give me some suggestions please? I try to stop eating at 6pm so I'm doing some intermittent fasting. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks again!

I noticed you buy organic bananas - not necessary, because there is no way that bananas can be GMO or anything else that’s unhealthy, but what I don’t understand is why you buy Quaker Oats, because they are a non organic, GMO product, and genetically modified products can wreck your health. Do your research. I hope you will invest in ORGANIC rolled oats from now on, because what good does it do to lose all that weight and still be unhealthy?
