You guys are such pussies. The guy had a point. You don’t pull a rope out of a rats nest to full tension on the first pull. First you pull it to tension, then back up so that it lines up the slack in parallel. Then you do the pull. To try and do a full strength pole out of a tangled mass of rope sitting in rocky mud is a a recipe for disaster. To be honest I’m shocked at the daily disregard for common sense safety that Matt displays, but I guess when the phone rings all the time and you are making cash off of KZbin, who cares about safety. Dude doesn’t even carry the particular part to put into a generic trailer hitch to make the rope effective. It’s pathetic to be honest; so are you. Oh my gosh, some guy that knows more than me does something that I don’t understand, he must be right! - You

Just a note… The traction control can be fully turned off by pressing and holding the traction control button for about 10 seconds. A quick press and release puts the system into “TRACTION” mode which intended for use in snow. So one could say there are three settings… Full on, Traction, and full off. I currently on 3 MINIs, one of each generation and have some familiarity with this. Glad Matt was able to make such easy work of this situation even without knowing this. And nice of you to compliment him. Take care and Motor On….

Love the show. Tip for Matt a lot of new cars require you to hold the traction control button for 10 seconds to fully disable it and it will partially reengage if drive over a certain speed or put the vehicle in park. And there's no visual indicator difference between the two modes other than when you fully disable traction control it flashes for a few seconds instead of just turning the light on.

Professionals love it when customers tell them how to do their job and rattle off a bunch of excuses on why they couldn't handle the job themselves. Matt keeps his cool and doesn't seem too bothered by it but it has to drive him crazy!! LOL EDIT: The customer would have been correct about the rope if it was a normal tow strap, so go easy on him. I've made those same kinds of mistakes at different points in my life. And let's be honest, most of us keyboard warriors will never even make it where those guys were. Matt handled it perfectly.

I live in Atlantic Canada's Maritime provinces and I am constantly amazed at the beauty of the Utah desert and how much snow you have. We are used to Americans giving us a hard time about the great White North where we live in igloos and it snows all the time, but we can't hold a candle to Utah when it comes to snow. I hope you get through the snow melt without any serious flooding and destruction. It must be a relief to see the waterways coming back after so much drought. Hey Matt for future reference, most vehicles even with traction control "off" it will still pull power after so much spin because its only partially off. If you press and hold the traction control button a lot of vehicles have a full off mode that will allow unlimited tire spin. Some models wont let you get to a full off position though.

That wrecker is a beast with MRAP rears, and rear steer. The only way it could have better control is a steering wheel inside a steering wheel to control with one hand an inch apart. A shaft inside a shaft ,, inside a sleeve. With a click lock to lock both shafts/wheels. Maybe a electric magnetic lock, then switch to unlock where the horn is. Magnetically locked both steering wheels act as one, steering front and rear. Magnetically unlocked both rears steer independently with one hand. For safety put a red led on the horn to know when duel steering is locked. Wired to fail safe if the magnetic lock loses power, light goes out.

@@rollastudent The build videos are closer to real time than the recoveries, and Ed was in the last one briefly. IIRC, he fell and cracked a vertebrae or two in his neck, so he's not able to go out on the recoveries until he heals up. He's still around...

Matt, if you hate all the new cars now just wait for the next few years when everything goes electric because on the electric vehicles they made the bottoms of them completely flat so there is no tow points at all and Chevrolet has made the commitment to turn all of their vehicles electric by the end of 2025 I do believe if not 2026 and the first gas car they are getting rid of is the Camaro again which I'm totally against and I'm totally against all the vehicles going electric in my opinion and it also gets me going about that whole Glamping thing whatever happened to good old camping where you have a tent and your bare essentials or if you go to a campground you have a camper trailer or an RV but you still have your bare essentials basically because they don't have washers and dryers and you'll be lucky if you have a TV but if you get that bored you have your phone or tablet which if you get bored at a campground especially then camping isn't for you period because there is plenty of things to do at a campground

It’s awesome to see a heavy wrecker video while it’s being worked on in Chads Fab. I thought I was gonna have to wait a while. I like how he builds worlds largest heavy wrecker and it seems like he lets others drive it more than he does. I don’t know if I could do the same for a multitude of reasons. I’d want to to to have all the fun and wouldn’t want others to break it 😂

Matt...In a lot of vehicles, as you probably might already know. Just pressing the traction control button doesn't fully turn it off. In most, you have to hold the traction control button down for multiple seconds, when usually a light on the dash will pop up telling you that traction control is now completely off.

With a lot of new cars there is usually a trick to disabling the traction control to allow you to spin the wheels, usually you can press and hold the traction control button for around 10-30 seconds and if the car has the option is will usually disable any traction control OR stability control(check the dash for any new lights that don't pop up when you only press the traction control button) and will usually stop the car from cutting any power whenever there is wheel slip.

9:25 For MINIs and, I think BMWs, just pressing the traction control button and releasing it does not turn the traction control fully off, even though is says that it is “off”. That just modifies the settings on MINIs to what is called as “TRACTION”. To turn the traction control all the way off, press and hold the button down for about 10 sec or more and it will turn off completely and you can power spin the tires to your hearts content…

Lizzie, the Mini you were driving is a descendant of one of the best rally cars of the mid 60's. It proved that front wheel drive was here to stay winning the Monte Carlo rally for a number of years. Of course any resemblance to those rally cars ended at the body shape as is the case in any "works" rally car.
