Remember to always put your self first, business owners should know the risks and rewards of owning a business, and as an employee you should not feel any obligation to soften their blow by working without pay. If the business suddenly started making money hand over fist, do you think your boss is going to send you an equal share? I am doing that for sure and working this weekend as they have offered all of our sales to staff. Total sales. Unheard of. I will take it and work as much as I can.

When you've worked somewhere long enough and everyone "feels" like family, it's hard to just not show up and be there for your family. I work back of house at the Sanford location, and it's been rough as hell not having any money for a month now, and the only thing that's kept me showing up is my coworkers, if it wasn't for them, I'd of been out the door the first time this happened.
