Since late 1990 and early 1991 the situation in Lebanon has rapidly improved in safety and stability, and the country reopened to foreign visitors in July 1991. The last battle in Beirut was fought in October 1990. However since 2019 the country is once again involved in a political crisis involving the government, an explosion, and garbage, so it is not advisable to visit Lebanon at this time.

Lovely video. How do you get around? Do you walk or rent a car? I am thinking of visiting Beirut in a few years but not sure what my method of traveling will be when I get there!
@aerotravelerNL7 жыл бұрын
By car because there is almost no public transportation. I had a private tour guide who drove me around Beirut and Lebanon. I was happy not to drive because the traffic jams especially in Beirut can be nerve racking. And the locals drive like crazy sometimes. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment! I do appreciate the feedback.
@ghass20067 жыл бұрын
Maura McDermott I am currently in Lebanon.Taxis are available in demand all over the country and is isn't expensive to get around, but I would strongly suggest you rent a car or have someone to drive you as the traffic is crazy at peek times and most likely hard to find a parking spot(paid meter). I also will recommend for you to visit North Lebanon (Tripoli) if you will like to visit the old markets and do some sight seeing. Oh make sure to try the sweets as Tripoli is well known to their sweets making. Anyway if you have anymore questions feel free to ask away.
@aerotravelerNL7 жыл бұрын
This is indeed true. There are taxis around virtually every corner in Beirut and the larger citiess. However, the 'service' (as they call it in Lebanon) is not very convenient if you want to travel outside Beirut as the minibuses stop everywhere. I also went to Tripoli and made a video about the city. I loved Abdul Rahman Al Hallab in the city centre. I would rate the restaurant 10/10 for service, ambience and the quality of food.
@maurirish17 жыл бұрын
Thank you Joe Habboushi and Dim Mih! Great information.
@ghass20067 жыл бұрын
Dim Mih I am Glad to know you have visited Tripoli too.I am actually in Tripoli now.I strongly wouldn't advice anyone to use the mini buses as they are crazy drivers. I strongly suggest taking the connex Bus which you can get from the main bus stop , they only go from point Beirut to Tripoli vise versa and non stop. I hope to visited the Gold market in Tripoli too? I think a full 2 weeks can do for a full tour around Lebanon.
