It is also good that the Cybermen thought to try wooden designs, after seeing how many times The Doctor was able to disable them or even sometimes outright kill them with the sonic. Then they realized that it was actually even easier to take out once people fought the wooden Cyberman, and that it wasn't worth it for the miniscule chance of encountering The Doctor

He tells the cyber man it does work and that he’s reversed the polarity so his weapon will fire at himself and the cyber man believes him so sends the reverse command/reverses the polarity to try and counter it which ends up with him just shooting himself. Does that make sense? I struggled wording this😂

It actually worked in The Doctor's favour in "The Time of the Doctor" when he sends a signal to the wooden Cyberman's wooden gun to reverse the direction of fire, tells the Cyberman what he has done, invites him to check and confirm that the signal was sent, and reminds him that he couldn't have lied about it because of the "truth field" on Christmas. The Cyberman confirms the signal, reverses the gun direction, and promptly blasts himself in the chops because..................IT DOESN'T DO WOOD! Silly Cybe. Should have known The Doc was up to something.

Sonic Screwdriver has a weakness against wood a couple more things but wood that really makes sense it once was a tree and trees are a living thing but interestingly so is the outside of the Tardis a form of plant? The weakness also reminds me of Alan Scott Green Lantern his ring was weakened by wooden yellow things and his ring was magical in origin so is the science of Gallifrey base in both science and magic a interesting question after all the Doctor once used Merlin as a name and technology the Gallifrey people use could be confused with many forms of magic Weakness of the Sonic Screwdriver are few but the idea of this device was originally designed to operate locks and as tricorder the main important thing was it actually became more important in the years to follow until Peter Davidson took over and it was destroyed oddly the only thing that made Doctor Who a lot more interesting was that Screwdriver and it returned later on I hope it has a few plots stories involving this amazing device in the future and probably gain a voice like Google Assist or Bluetooth? A Sonic Mobile device a upgrade?
