I feel like this video just isn't well researched in general. Samsung doesn't lock their watches from Apple users - WearOS itself does. You can put unwanted apps into a folder. Not much research or testing into the accuracy of the sensors or how it stacks up with other watches.

I think y’all are missing the point of shortcircuit videos, I don’t necessarily expect them to be highly researched and reviewed. They are more of a basic overview and initial first impressions of a product, which to me is a very important category of review because that’s about how deep the general public is going to care about a given product. If you want the super deep metrics when it comes to the health sensors, “The Quantified Scientist” channel here on KZbin has you completely covered and goes in to great detail with every single product review.

@@1300BlueStar WearOS is basically android (it's built on top of it ... first version already started with android 4), android apps don't work on iOS, different platform, different bytecode. But WearOS itself is primarilly google thing, if they don't want to communicate with apple ... well no idea why. I used in Polar M600, they run WearOS version 4.0 (it's based on Android 8), application to this watch you could install with Wear OS Application, and to sync data you use Polar Flow ... WearOS app is available on both platforms (android and ios), Polar Flow likewise. My polar watches did work with both, my motorola android phone, and iPhone SE (which i'm still using, just replaced polar watches 2 yeas ago with apple watches). But Samsung in general makes weird decisions, for example when they switched from Tizen to WearOS ... they effectively dumped tizen support (new watch app in phone - and i'm talking about samsung phone - didn't support tizen watches ... likewise on some older samsung phones, you were not able connect new wearos watches, because you could not update app to latest). Old app Gear S, that was on iOS and Android likewise, that supports tizen watches (from first version until Galaxy Watch 3, which is last tizen one) works on both platforms, new one ... (eg. since galaxy watch 4), you can guess. it's obviously Samsung, who is at fault here. not apple, not google.

Long time LTT viewer, pretty poor video all around. 44mm still uses 20mm bands. Apple prevents the watch from having any decent functionality with iPhone, so to prevent a bad experience, they advertise it to not be compatible. Imagine you buy a $400 watch and it can only pop up notifications. As a watch4 user, you can add app shortcuts to the home screen. It's literally called app shortcut, and of course it has that feature since they both it and the pixel watch run WearOS, made by GOOGLE. Slander of the body composition features, but I have to say I have only had accurate positive experiences with mine after nearly four years of use. Why compare to a FITBIT when its competing with an Apple Watch (which are more expensive btw). I have sent texts from the middle of a pool and control my smart lights from my watch, can a fitbit do that? No. So why compare the two, they aren't equal products. Its like comparing a chromebook with a gaming laptop. Different use cases. Feels like too much personal opinion in this video. Disappointing.

It seems nice, large, and clearly illustrates the sensor readouts. I've had a Gear S3 Frontier (with spinny ring) for years, so this is my first modern upgrade in a while. I'm about to have some weight-loss surgery soon and need to start tracking info for heart and health. If the Watch7 is half as reliable as my G3F, it's going to be a hell of a watch and well worth the expense for me. It should be noted the 44mm has a larger battery than the 40mm shown. If battery was part of the concern, it's actually not much more $$, but still more money you're throwing down. Definitely pricey but I'm getting one soon myself. I do like the look, and expect it to last. I do also really like the charger and vast amount of sensors, as someone trying to work up from bad health to better habits. However for the price... like said, it definitely won't be for everyone.

The stiffest competition comes from samsung's own product line and that's the fit 3 for $50. I've got one and it does everything I need, lasts like 3 days with continuous monitoring enabled.

I had bought the Samsung gear S3 frontier back in the day, I still use it daily. If it crapped out I would probably still go with a Samsung watch based on the longevity of my current wearable.

I think if you just want a watch that tracks your heartbeat and your activities. Than you should go with a garmin watch. These watches have outstanding battery life, up to 12 days and if you go higher in price even more battery life. It is just so much more valeu if you don't care about the apps but just want a watch that tracks your health. The vivoactive 5 is a great watch and I daily drive it and it is great.

Well when you trade in a Watch 4 that you bought off ebay for $60 and they give you a $200 trade in allowance and take an additional student discount off of that and you get the 44mm or $100 you don't pass up on that.

The difference is that the CMF's sensors are most likely useless, at least going by their first watch. The Samsung ones usually aren't super good, but they're ok. So that's where the difference is for someone who actually wants to track exercise.

I own the Galaxy watch 4; not much differences between this and the watch 7 besides a physical dial ring around the screen that you can turn clockwise counterclockwise to navigate between screens. And then in terms of battery life, about a day 1/2 if you keep the brightness low but bright enough to see it outside and without using apps like spotify to play music thru the watch (which you can do).

Around here, they throw watches at you for around half price when you buy an new S/fold/flip phone, and it seems like that is a norm in different shops. And since for full optimisation it is so dependant on the eco-system, then I cannot see a point in getting this (or their ear buds for that matter), unless it is because you are basically doing a "Samsung build". I got S24+, watch6, ear buds2... I am super happy, even if with discounts the buds and watch are expensive, then the connectivity between them is just making my life easier. And really... They should start designing it as bundles. Watch, phone, ear buds, headset, tablet, and (non-gaming) laptop, where they have special management apps, so it is even easier to switch between where what connects to and how. As well as a system for how the chargers all can support each other (my watch should be able to charge on the wireless phone charger). And you could then set rules for how these cooperate. It is a bit weird IMO that we do not see completely packages of all this. If people are buying a S-level phone every 1, 2 or 3 years, then they might actually want the full package, and with the reimbursement for old devices and combo deals, then just make one large 2-3k dollar box of everything. Because there are a lot of users, who just want that, and use their devices enough to it being value for money. (People complain about spending 200 dollars per month on all expenses, including paying off their phone, while they might spend several times that on a car, which many use a lot less) These brand-watches, should imo actually focus more on being a closed eco-system than opening up. I cannot possibly imagine anyone wanting this product without an applicable expensive Samsung phone. And you can get an Fitbit if you have an A-series phone. We have whined about Apple for a long time, but it works for what it is. The only real problem with Apple (besides having to be rich) is their OSs do not integrate with Windows, which is annoying for gamers, and for professionals depending on Windows-only specialised programmes. Samsung was always the Android version of Apple... And I do not actually think it benefits the market to change that. Instead they should leave the gap in the market open to others, as long as you can still use your peripherals with a Samsung phone, and they keep the A-series going.

If I have to charge my damn WATCH as often as my phone it's a no-go for me. I'm using a OnePlus watch 1 right now and am getting at least 4 days of use between charges, up to 7 days if I try to conserve power. I don't want much from my watch other than telling time and date. Mostly fitness tracking, health sensors, alarm clock, media controls. No need to have the processor be very power hungry for that.

I've looked i to the body compositionthing because it'd be useful in my trainig journey. It is measuring the body as a capacitor parallel to a resistor. This is fairly accurate IF you can controll other variabels, namely water intake. Which is kinda not doable for a normal person. You might be able to equalize a bit over sleep, but it will show different results depending on if you drank half a gallon or 2 gallons the day before.

The ONLY things may be the new glass (my 4th gen is great till this day without any protections) and battery life. For me, battery life is not so much of a bummer, as I like to keep my watch at my dock stand with the original charger on it. Battery life of mine is still great!

I got my cmf watch for like $35 so I'll stick with that. The screen is actually really nice and it displays a lot of the email when I get a notification which is very helpful. And since it's kinda small, because of how much it displays, it's actually fairly private. Battery lasts for like 3-4 days with always on time and raise to wake. If I turn on raise to wake it lasts FOREVER. Give me back my pebble time. Best watch ever.

Physical bezel as standard hasn't been on the Galaxy watch since the 3rd iteration back in 2020. Samsung merged their watch versions (regular with the "Active" model) for the 4th version, which is when the standard was touch control with no bezel. Stating that as a knock against this watch doesn't make much sense. Samsung also has never locked features to Apple users, WearOS does, which is an Android product. In this video, there's also NO mention of the Galaxy ring and how it interacts with the watch whatsoever, which seems...like some shoddy research at best. This video presented itself as someone being told they have to give a presentation in their high school English class and winging it when they didn't even read the book. Do better. Also, a DEXA scan is primarily used for BONE composition, like for those with osteoporosis. While it's implied that it can be used for body composition, it isn't truly used for that.
