Matthew Stafford’s done it 20 times. 20 times. That’s a third of the games he’s played in, in that span. That’s nuts. The greater stat: He’s had 24 chances to do it, he’s done it 20 out of 24, and one of those times was Calvin Johnson’s fumble in Seattle.” The thing about this stat is the Rams will not put Matthew Stafford in the position to force him to come from behind with two minutes left. @@DKN808 there is without a doubt a price to pay for making bad decisions. If the Rams don't win a Super Bowl with Stafford this will be a failure. The Rams have 5 years at most to win a Super Bowl. Lions fan here, good trade for both teams but mark this down: Matt Stafford will get The Rams to a Super Bowl. People see Stafford as a good but not great QB and it's entirely because he played for The Lions. His arm, accuracy and decision making were top-5 in the league since he was drafted. He simply played for the most inept franchise in The NFL. He had ZERO run game to help him in his career. A single 1000 yard rusher (R. Bush) and Detroit averaged less than 100 rushing yards a game in Stafford's tenure here. I watched game after game where 4-3 defenses would line 3 DL and just drop the rest into coverage AND STILL GET PRESSURE. Stafford had to throw into packed secondaries while constantly fleeing for his life. Then when he had Calvin Johnson he was given a defense that couldn't stop a dying snail. Stafford is a top-7 QB in the league TODAY. Give him a defense, decent coaching and he'll show it. Also, Detroit had to reset and rebuild with a new QB. Good trade for both.

With a running attack and a better o-line, Stafford can still play for a good 4-5 years looking at how most of his sort of generation is going. It's a good move more the likely, especially with the likelihood of late first round picks working out.

Even if Rams don't win super bowl, this was the right move. Goff just wasn't getting it done. Snead nor McVay would be fired over this. This is the type of risks L.A. wants. Go big or go home.

Im a huge stafford fan. Lions fan by default but no more. So relieving to see a lions logo news and realize i dont have to care anymore. Heaven. But rams...u so lucky...matt did what he did despite the team and more often bad coaching. Give him a coach designing plays for that arm. Gonna be ridiculous. Enjoy. I know i will.

There are issues with Goff that the organization would not share. If they are getting rid of him now, then it is for some outstanding reasons. I wish him all the best, but the Rams should be contending for a Super Bowl for the next three seasons. If Stafford could put up his numbers with a dysfunctional organization like the Detroit Leons, he should bloom like a rose in LA.

The Rams only do this because the picks that they make, actually end up panning out for them. For example: Cooper Kupp, Cam Akers, Gerald Everett, John Johnson, John Franklin - Myers, and Darrell Henderson. These guys aren’t superstars, but they get the job done.

Why is no one bringing up Hebert and the Chargers? This had to play into the decision as well. Now, with Stafford, the Rams maintain their status as LA's number one team. The Goff situation is one of the stupidest signings ever. 100 million? No way.
