Looks great man. I'm looking for one of these myself, to get up in the mountains camping. There is a nice one locally but the guy wants $5500 for it. Too rich for my blood. Your wiring ideas are pretty genius.

cool video and cool car, I have the same 5 door but 1999 and i hate not having an arm rest where did you find yours? also love the rain window visors been thinking of trying to find some of those also and the roof bars haha . as you can see you have inspired me to get researching

Thanks for the awesome comment! I put links up for the arm rest and visors. The arm rest looks different than mine. I would try repairing one from the junkyard. You don't need it to open, you just need it to be there. Thanks again. I'm posting another video soon with astray and glovebox lights soon.

How is the suspension? I’m guessing pretty rugged? Philly roads are horrible and I’ve always love the first GEN RAV4. I’ve never driven a first GEN but I just picture them being really sporty where you can throw them in the corners and being able to handle quite a bit of off-road. If I can find one and get 20 mpg I’ll be thrilled.

Nice video! Since you're talking about overdrive button: My 1997 Rav4 overdrive button does not do anything when pressed on (or off). I mean no difference at all. Also no light on the speedo comes on (i dont know whether it should be a light that goes on). What do you assume it would be? Maybe a burnt fuse? Any ideas?

If it's the button itself I wouldn't try to repair the button. You would be better off hotwiring the switch or replacing the entire gearshift assembly. It's possible coffee got spilled in the button. Try to get some alcohol in there and work the button on and off. I don't know about the fuse. Should be stuck in the on position so that's good

It was 25$ on ebay. works great though. You got a JDM Rav4? that's so cool. I want one. Is it hard to drive on the right side in America? What about parts?
