My favorite FFTA2 class is probably still Assassin. I'm not a great player who never beat all of the battles, but getting an Assassin running riot across the map in Ninja Tabi casting one-shot spells in Last Breath, Nightmare, or petrify is just hilarious to me. Imagining this bunny girl in black clothes blurring behind your fellow team members before they fall out unconscious, turn into stone, or fall prey to literal sleep paralysis demons is hilariously dark. Like, dude, someone just hit me with Ultima.

Blue mage definitely bring some uniqueness to a team. There's a lot of powerful effects that are locked to them. My favorite class is probably Paladin (mostly because it's the only Hume class that can use the Sequencer and Peytral) with Flair (Parivir abilities) and Geomancy (from Black Mage)! Ridiculous damage output and you stay tanky!
@thelegacyofgaming2928 Жыл бұрын
Paladin + Hunter Abilities clears every map in the game. Equip Ribbon bearer so no status effects, and use maxed sequencer + Sidewinder to 1 shot monsters, or ultima shot to 1 shot non monsters. With mp efficiency as clan talent, you can ultima shot every other turn and never get debuffed because of your ribbon. Full kit setup: Paladin/Hunter Sequencer Peytral Ribbon Angel Ring Ninja Tabi Reaction Ability: Reflex or Counter Support Ability: Ribbon-Bearer (If you use Adelle or Frimelda for this, then replace Ribbon bearer with Doublehand or whatever else you want)

Favourite class in FFTA has to be Gunner, it's so funny to fire Ultima Blades across the map (though their stat growth is bad, I usually train them up as Jugglers or Mog-Knights). In FFTA2 it really gets hard to pick one. I think I liked the Ravager the most (but that's mostly because I enjoyed having flying units in the Gria).
@justsomejojo Жыл бұрын
I recently returned to FFTA (both games) and dedicated Marche to be a Blue Mage. The constant being on the lookout for new abilities and keeping a Beastmaster on the team certainly adds a new layer to battles. Having bonus objectives like that makes monster battles more challenging as well. It interestingly also discourages the use of Counter and similar reaction abilities. I *always* have Counter on my frontliners, so that is quite the departure from my usual norm. I probably didn't help the extra challenge by wanting to have a Morpher decked out as well - so in addition to learning skills, I'll often keep targets on life support to capture them. It's... a very strange experience. That's FFTA though. In FFTA2 I don't think I ever tried Blue Mage, specifically because kid me had such a hard time with them in the first game. However, I actually think the game changed around the Blue Mage in many ways that make them MUCH easier to use. For one, none of the monsters stop spawning throughout the game (at least that I'm aware of). In the first game, I would always stress about putting off dragon or goblin missions until I got a Blue Mage, because both of those eventually vanish from missions and aren't in random clan fights. That's definitely something that annoys me about blue mages in FFTA that got fixed in FFTA2. Blue Mages arguably are also much less reliant on getting blessed by item drops than other jobs. I have a Moogle only playthrough in FFTA2 currently and even reaching Fluorgis, I *still* cannot craft another instrument to teach my Animist things (to become a Chocobo Knight and thus the only Moogle class with access to heal spells). The Blue Mage just doesn't have that issue, which I imagine is quite relaxing (the Beastmaster might though, so who knows) Speaking of, Chocobo Knight is my favorite class. I have fond memories of winning the game in FFT War of the Lions by riding Chocobos, plus, their helmet and armor remind me of the Tactics Ogre Dragoon (my favorite class design there). Their mechanics are a bit strange, but Chocobo moves are fun and varied - even if they aren't very powerful. In a Moogle only team, they are still the best support you can get (besides a Juggler/Time Mage spamming Smile Toss)

Cannoneer is my favorite. Combined with Defender for Bulwark, Unscarred, and Regenga Law, they are very powerful. The only downside is that they are slow because they take multiple turns to set up, but if positioned correctly, they can take down 2+ units in a single attack with ease.

My current attempt at this game I have a Blue Mage/Hunter and he’s one of my core group. Blue magic is quite versatile and flexible. For the moment I mostly cast sandstorm for AoE savage and blind or Bad Breath, there are a few other spells like Screech that have saved me with a well-timed confused on an enemy. Beastmaster is not entirely useless but having only a 2-tile range and only some of the instruments early on makes them unbearable to bring into a fight, never mind that they are literally useless against humanoids. I so far haven’t had any luck getting my beastmaster and blue mage in range enough to learn abilities that way, but I do still have 7 by just being hit so *shrug *.

considering the blue mage has the best growth stat of the game i am building a team of blue mage, with ambidexterity and the seer abilities. basically, i buff my blue mage to oblivion before any enemy is in range and then i simply end them with magick frenzy and a double hit. using this strategy you can even kill the nightshade on 1v1 also considering speed growth is RNG based, you can easily have blue mage with very high speed if you are patient enough ;)

Blue Magic makes most sense in systems in which there is an asymmetry between monsters and humans. In tactical games with more balanced combat systems, it can be made to work but makes less sense IMO. The idea here is that with Blue Magic you have access to otherwise inaccessible or more powerful abilities. It's premised on monsters needing significantly more HP and MP to be competitive with humans to compensate for poor AI.
@jaeaik2 жыл бұрын
I'm honestly inclined to agree with you here. But I think the trade off for trying to build an optimal blue mage in the tactics games also comes at the cost of building up a numou beast tamer in order to get certain abilities. Which makes it a slot in for 2 units in a 6 party member. And abilities like roulette also have you playing things like the auction house so you can get the angel ring and things like that. I think while the gameplay system might not make the most sense like you say, the benefit of blue mages in the tactics series I feel, are having you learn to plan ahead, and try out the other things the game has to offer you. But I do agree with the system mechanics! Doesn't make sense!
@mattcat832 жыл бұрын
@@jaeaik right, though on the other hand, mechanics that require more interaction with monsters tend to be more interesting than just doing the same opening moves with your party over and over regardless of the enemy party's team composition. I think this is where other classes shine over Blue Mages because they interact most when learning but less so after that.

It's the exact same thing as blue mages in FF Tactics Advance. This isn't exclusive to FF Tactics A2. In FF Tactics Advance, you need to use a Beastmaster Nu Mou to control enemies to use buffing abilities on your Blue Mages to learn those buffing skills. Otherwise, it's impossible to learn them. Plenty of other things are also the same as in FF Tactics Advance.

Blue Mage is also my favorite class in any RPG Regardless of the form that a blue mage appears in FF or any RPG, I always expect one thing: *Versatility* Healing, Buff, Debuff, Utility and DPS: Blue Mage got it all and more *One gripe is Blue Mage was so OP in FFTA, the job got nerfed in FFTA2* 1) Bad Breath used to cause every status effect, now reduced to poison, silence and blind 2) White Wind and Angel Whisper cannot be used on the Blue Mage casting the spells 3) Dragonforce used to buff all stats, now only raising attack and magic. I would say that was a glitch but still. *Blue Mage Roar was absolutely necessary to clear the postgame dungeon* Pesky enemies who grant field buffs to their friends was annoying but Roar deletes all buffs.

It's really hard to choose a class that's my favorite since most of them are all so cool! -Blue Mages are the most growth oriented class and feel the best to raise because of that -Red Mages are super versatile, pretty strong (once double cast is introduced), and are the embodiment of stylish SWAGGER! -White mages are probably the most useful class due to their universal nature -Defender is fun because a class that can't die > a class that can -Illusionists are practically unstoppable when spammed (and their attacks all remind me of Plasma Wave from Vandal Hearts) -Monks use fists in a world with swords, magic, and guns. What more needs to be said? -Thieves are super unique because no other class does a hit and run, sabotage playstyle! -Tricksters are fun just because their attack names are funny. "TRAUMATIZE" "Hypochondria" "Mug" -Paladins have almost no weaknesses besides speed -Gunners (or their game-by-game equivalents like Cannoneers and Flintlocks) are fun snipers without much of an equivalent elsewhere! If I had to choose one I'd probably choose Red Mage, but that's a really close choice and chances are if you'd ask me again in a year one of the other ones could easily be my favorite.
