It speaks of the philosophy of life, of the transmission of stories or music from generation to generation. We can understand this song in different aspects and feelings but you have perfectly understood its essence and depth by reading the lyrics and with your musician's mind. The superb photography particularly highlights the beauty of Saiki in the interior of this beautiful residence as well as in the Edenic exterior landscape and is in keeping with the song which is rare in an MV. This song contains multiple drops, all different. The first, right after the pastoral beginning verses, features a pause that contains a sound effect like the air being sucked out of the room. This song works on soooo many levels; brilliant!

What you said about “journey of humanity” is right. As others have mentioned, Kanami composed this song while reflecting on the recent passing of a loved one. Saiki then added lyrics that conveyed how songs and stories outlive people, and that songs and tales that may have been lost or “forbidden” in the past may be discovered generations later. Likewise, she expresses the hope that they, now in the present, can convey their stories to people in the future.

In another comment Kanami wrote this after going through a death of someone close, and she started thinking about what is life truly all about. Kanami's lyrics are about stories and music that was censored in the past that we can now find and hear for the first time. So it seams to me to be just about life and finding a path for yourself and discovering everything new along the way. Only Band Maid could write something so beautiful and so deep at the same time. Well done ladies.

Ok so without reading through your comments section here goes although I'm, sure someone else has probably beaten me to the punch. The beautiful thing about music is that it moves us and that whichever way it comes across and does that is fantastic. Notes, vocal patterns and lyric fragments can trigger memories and emotions for all of us in different ways for different reasons. That being said.... There is a fine gentleman who in the comments section of the original MV of "Forbidden Tales" translated an interview of the Maid's where each gave their thoughts and inspirations for how they crafted the song. In particular Kanami who wrote the original musical ideas for it and that affected Saki who in turn became inspired to write the lyrics for it. The song has a definite purpose and meaning and I highly suggest you go the the original MV's comments section and look it up ( it's a bid comment near the top you cannot miss it) because it's amazing and totally worth the time to do so because it truly open up a completely new door to the song. ( I apologize for any weird word structure. Grammar correct does as it chooses and I 'm not look back to make corrections)

My interpretation is quite spiritual. You have the Sistine Chapel scene where the hand of Man is actually holding God's hand Then there's the scene where Saiki is lying beneath the Tree of Life. Then the lyric, "I can feel you in the sky". Yes, to me, quite spiritual.

Yep. Kanami wrote this after someone close to her passed (may have been her grandmother), but Saiki wrote the lyrics about songs that were forbidden to he sung, with a focus on this song being eternal.

Amazing music video, amazing song. It's one of my favourites from the new album. And that's saying a lot, because this entire album is amazing! Saiki's voice sounds better than ever. Miku is getting more complex music to play with her guitar, as well as being incredibly vocally. Misa, Kanami, and Akane are doing incredible, too.

I already love Forbidden Tale. The backstory of Saiki's lyrics and Kanami's composition are deep as hell! "The One" is in my own opinion one of the best songs the maids have ever created. I just cried the first time I heard it. It is such a heart wrenching ballad. A masterpiece. And you are right about these new, previously unveiled songs of this album, what a shock is was. These new songs could have been released as a separate EP, inasmuch so that they share such a coherent stylistic unity ,revealing a new phase of the band's musical creativity. If they keep on going in this direction, a bright future is ahead of us.
