Love watching dogs work! Had dog trials at SA stockshow in the freeman this year a good crowd of people just to come watch! I don't know how we would make it without our dogs an south texas brush! They save us an our horses 💗 helicopter is nice to spot but ya still need a good dog an horses.

I love watching border collies work. I have a 3 yr old that’s a red collie like yours. He’s a long hair but has the temperament of your gyp. He’s more of a heel dog, don’t really like to bite on the nose when they face up. Thinking of trying him on sheep to build confidence. Great video.

Growing up on our ranch when I was little we had border collies and Aussies but your comments about them getting into mischief because that work drive never stops and the anxiety issues with some was spot on to our experience, when I was a kid my uncles phased the border collies out, sold all of them to other ranchers with the exception of one big Aussie and replaced them with German Shepherds who were calmer and had an off button, they were not as quick and efficient but they got the job done and they had an added plus of being able to defend themselves from predators, we had to deal with packs of coyotes, a few wolves, a high bear population and mountain lions and we lost a couple border collies but not much messes with a pack of German Shepherds.

@@themendotaranch They take to it pretty naturally, just not lightning quick like border collies, Belgian Malinois Shepherds also work good, more athletic than the German Shepherds but some of them have no off button either like the border collies.

I'm fascinated, watching cow dogs work, and how their handled. We took in a, currently 9 month, border collie/austrailian shepherd/hangin tree/blue heeler. My first experience with a cow dog. He's fun, crazy athletic, intense and calm, driven, and smart. He makes me wish we lived in cattle country. Our pastures are full of blueberries.

I came across this video yesterday when returning home from work. I had never heard of you or your farm as I'm in Ohio) I have a 9 month old Aussie (Tucker) an almost 6 year old blue heeler kelpie mix (or that's what I was told he was when I rescued him from a bad situation at 6 months old). He is very much like your female. His entire life exists to patrol the yard (it's only 3 acres here tho so much smaller than yours lol) and keep his eye on us. Although I grew up on a barrel horse farm these two dogs are my first experiences with a working type breed and they are most definitely the most amazing animals. I say my younger one is from the matrix bc he is so fast and the way they move their bodies is just unbelievable. Anyways. I love your channel and am already addicted to watching in just 24 hours 😂 you are a super bad ass and we loved the one on your barndominium. Your family is beautiful...
