BeeGees are number one. Best songwriters, singers and all out good human beings. They were the first group ever to donate all proceeds of a song to charity with Too much heaven given to UNICEF making them millions to this day as well as the proceeds of Blue Island to help with the aftermath of the Bosnian war particularly the women and children affected by the war. All out great people.

"Tragedy" is a song released by the Bee Gees, written by Barry, Robin & Maurice Gibb, included on their 1979 album Spirits Having Flown. The single reached number one in the UK in February 1979 and repeated the feat the following month on the US Billboard Hot 100. In 1998, it was covered by British pop group Steps, whose version also reached number one in the UK.

Their 70’s run was actually from 4 albums… Main Course (Jive Talkin, Fanny be Tender; Nights on Broadway) Children of the World (You should Be Dancing, Love so right) Then the Fever cd which used some of the songs listed above again! Then the Spirits Having Flown cd (Too Much Heaven, Tragedy, and Love You Inside out….all 3 of these songs went #1) Then the backlash of disco came so they started writing for other artists and those artists had hits with those songs!

1978...they were already moving to contemporary rock. Last album of the 70s was Spirits Having Flown. Inc. Too much Heaven and Tragedy which they wrote in the same afternoon and Shadow Dancing that evening. 3 number 1s in one day! Barry created that explosion purely by mouth over microphone 🎤 and overloading.

IMO, BGs are at No 1 for any group, Family or not. They are just too good. As far as any other "family" group, I would have to put the Osmonds after them. And for No 3, even though they are cousins and not a "family" like the rest, I would go with Alabama, They have so many great hits including I think something like 41 #1's. BTW, we all miss them, but Barry is still out there doing what he does. Here's one from 2017, yeah, he's aged but he's still got it! kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2PMp3udibtgiJY

@@VIDSTORAGEAnd to think that the rhythm for Jive Talkin' came from a rickety bridge in Miami near their recording studio.
@VIDSTORAGE
@VIDSTORAGE Жыл бұрын
@@GeorgeMaster-xg7lg I totally understand how they got that rhythm . Those coastal bridges have strange sounds from the things that the builders put in the asphalt of the bridge to get the drivers attention as they drive along.. Barry thought it was a not so great bridge but the designers do that intentionally for safety awareness .. The newest bridge in Charleston ,SC , you can hear all sorts of weird noises on that one..

They organized a fundraiser that was held at the UN and donated TOO MUCH HEAVEN in perpetuity to UNICEF. The album became their top seller and had a 3rd #1 called LOVE YOU INSIDE OUT that is one of their most sampled. You should also react to the title song SPIRITS HAVING FLOWN, and the B side of the TOO MUCH HEAVEN single called REST YOUR LOVE. When you react to The Mills Brothers, maybe slip “Bee Gees inspiration” or something into the title to make it easier for Bee Gees fans to find.

You really need to react to "Nights On Broadway" from their 70's run. I would recommend listening to their song "If I Can't Have You" from Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, sung by Yvonne Elliman, great song! Love your reactions to the Bee Gees. This is one of many of my favorite Bee Gees songs. If you were to watch a video of them performing this song live in concert, you would feel the impact a little bit more. The explosion you hear and referenced to was to emphasize the tragedy being sung about. In concert they usually would use some small explosives / fireworks and the explosion came across even louder.

They got their start right here in Australia as kids in 1958 and started booking gigs and getting a following in the 1960s. They were huge in the 70's as you know in the disco era. "Tragedy" was released in 1979 so you were right about an 80s vibe. It's so sad to think of Andy, Robin and Maurice being gone. "Nights on Broadway" was their first song singing falsetto. Barry continues to make music but unfortunately there are no concert dates booked for 2023. Maybe at 75 he's decided to take a well earned break. What a phenominal sound they had. I will remain an eternal fan of the BeeGees 🥰🎸🎶🎤❤

Hard to resist a request for more suggestions (ha)! Since I'm guessing you've already listened to the ones you mentioned, here are some others perhaps you've not tried yet: My note below suggests "Love So Right" which is r&b and Barry wails on this one, so you'll definitely like it! Also try "Alone", "Fanny Be Tender", "How Do You Mend A Broken Heart", "Nights On Broadway", "One", "Love You Inside and Out", "For Whom The Bell Tolls", but of course all of their songs are great and it feels like I've left so many out (and I have). Some earlier stuff is "Run To Me", "To Love Somebody", "Lonely Days", "Words", and on and on. Just keep finding and watching them. There's not a bad one out there! And thanks for the fun reactions!

For some reason, harmonies are exponentially better when people from the same family sing together. Don't know why, but it's always held true in my experience. I am not a BeeGees fan. I gave up on pop a long long time ago, about the time the BeeGees were hot. I like complicated arrangements and instrumental excellence. Regardless, glad you like them. They are definitely worthy, if for nothing else but their harmonies. Amazing voices. Great pop tunes.

Too many are just so close. My top though definitely those two! I was too young for Beatles and I’ve just never caught on to them.
