Years ago visited my mate who had emigrated to the Brisbane area from the UK, a few days in he was at work so i thought i'd take his push iron out for a spin as you do when on your jollies, trundling along nicely, a cop car overtakes me indicates and pull in to the kerb, so i pass it and carry on, next thing i know blues & 2's female cop jumps out & asked why i didn't stop before as far as i was concerned nothing was wrong, "why have we stopped you" she asks" speeding " i reply trying too keep things jovial went down like a fart in a spacesuit."Where's your helmet"she says" im riding a pushbike" says i, apparently it's compulsary to wear one. The twat made me push the bike back the 7Km home whilst following me. Hey ho.

In 2018, I did the exact same thing on the bike... bloke was doing 70 in a 100 zone but being a Tassie road there was nowhere safe to overtake so we turn off onto a road with a 70 zone, and the guy does 45 🤦♂️ after a few minutes we get to a place where it was safe and legal for me to overtake so I put on the throttle, got out beside him and the dickhead starts to speed up and of course so do I, I'm not gonna sit there and go back into the lane when he clearly just wanted to stop me from overtaking buuuuuut the cops came round the corner at the end of the road and pinged me doing apparently 100 in a 70 which in hindsight there's no way I was doing that but they gave me a caution cause, like you, I passed the dickhead test. I'm really grateful that we have some really understanding cops down here, and so far I've had luck with getting the few understanding ones (only two run-ins with the law) but fuckin hell I've dealt with some real shit-attitude cops

Had a similar situation back in 2019 but luckily there were no cops around, we were travelling back home to Sydney from Cowra, centre dividers on the highway were those concrete barrier things and the posted speed limit was 110, at 110 its a 3.5 hour drive got stuck behind several cars who were also stuck behind this truck who would while it was one lane in our direction would do 70 in a 110 zone, as soon as the sign "overtaking lane 500m ahead" was visible he would accelerate up to 120 until it went back to one lane where he would proceed to do 70 again, when I finally got my chance to overtake him had to pass him at 145 before the overtaking lane ran out.

Back in early August I got pulled over by a cop on a bike.. Apparently I was doing 75 on what used to be a 70 limit road (Huon highway) heading up to Ferntree. It was on a straight section, no other vehicles on the road and no houses. Unfortunately, the limit had been reduced to 60, so I was 15 over. Needless to say, I received the same lecture re no discretion and yes I received a fine and 3 points. I remained totally civil throughout the encounter. And thereafter we talked about bikes. All I can say is that i was also watching the road rather than the speedo. These things happen.

Whether I'm in a car/truck or on a motorcycle, I don't like hanging about in the wrong lane (passing) with cars traveling toward me that may or may not be paying attention. I pass quickly to get back in the proper lane and then reduce my speed. If you passed someone that was traveling slower than the flow of traffic at posted speeds, you'd be hit head-on. One must accelerate to pass.

Many years ago I pulled onto a dual carridgeway at the wrong time and entered the road at an immediate ban speed (possibly a short prison term if there were agrevating elements) they finally caught me up, I saw the lights when they were still a good way back and had rolled off. Which I think the good observation at that point worked in my favour. We had a long chat about being carefull and teaching them a little about MV Agusta and they let me off with a ticket for the minimum fine and points. Later I realised they had made a mistake on the paperwork and classed my bike as a private car. Even though I knew this would probably get me off if I contested it, I went along with it anyway. Thinking back on that I now wish I had played the system when I got the chance, because it playes me all the time!

Years ago the local cops (Melbourne's western suburbs) would park a crappy old ute and trailer (complete with a couple of 44 gallon drums in back) on the side of the back roads. Sometimes manned but sometimes not. Well, a mate of mine (with a wicked sense of humor) saw it parked and unmanned and decided to pinch it and leave it outside the local cop shop (No, he wasn't caught) LOL. Much hilarity ensued and the coppers stopped using that trick and my mate "drank for free" for many moons after. Ride safe out there, friends.

In South East England speed control has been handed over to electronic means, the cops are about in unmarked & marked cars unless they’re having a purge or you’re riding like a twat, a few mph over they usually can’t be bothered. But what’s happened in the most surveilled country on Earth is, your own self becomes the limiting factor because those cameras are everywhere, from static, mobile & average speed cams to over zealous pricks who are encouraged to rat on a fellow citizen by sending in car dash cam footage (they make it really easy as well). It’s reached saturation here, so the odd cam now and again on comparatively empty roads looks like a pretty good deal to me - but I take your point it’s whatever you’ve been used to and now you’ve got this bollox. Don’t let the bastards grind you down 👍

The coppers here (Brisbane) are just as bad. Time was when I could go for a nice ride, have a bit of safe, sensible fun and be relaxed about it. Now, it's just not worth it. How can I enjoy myself when I'm constantly checking my friggin' speedo?? I'm sure they think they're 'saving lives' but in all honesty they need to concentrate on the obvious, blatant yahoos, especially drivers who don't know what an indicator is, and leave we older, experienced riders alone.

When I go out at quite times Sunday mornings etc.. and know one is around I'm happy going the speed limit. But when cars around me don't want a pace vehicle slowing them down I don't want to be doing that on a motorcycle. Its either go the speed limit upset everyone and risk dangerous overtaking. Or just break the speed limit and keep up with traffic. I would rather be alive with a fine then dead.
