Calling home after his injury in Iraq was hard for Erick Lund, but the terrors of war made this soldier grateful for his family, the soldiers who carried him to safety, and his wife’s socks. Visit: bit.ly/3kK4qM6
Erick Lund is an extremely happy father and dentist. When he was 18 years old, he decided to join the army. After being engaged for only two weeks, he married his wife, Mandy. Three months later he was deployed to Iraq. His specific job rotated between driving the Humvee and being a 50-caliber machine gunner. He was out for 15 months when he was hit by roadside bombs. It was terrifying. It was a very humbling feeling to have a fellow soldier carry him in his arms. The shrapnel from the explosion hit different parts of his leg, his back, and his head. He also had a transmetatarsal amputation, leaving him without toes. He let that experience define him but not destroy him. Its purpose was to build and shape who he is. He believes in a God who loves him and doesn’t forget that easily.
