Your mama was so right, Kelly Ross. I get lovely compliments like "your makeup looks beautiful." I realize the person giving the compliment is being a sweetheart, and I know that they're not trying to hurt me. But when I would get a compliment like that, I would think to myself that I'm doing something terribly wrong, and then I start scaling it back a bit. My hubby always told me I don't need makeup at all. My hubby is the sweetest fibber, lol.

So what now? Is it really better to go like less is more? Somehow i don´t think so, because i don´t see a solution.Wayn is smearing make up from left to right anyway. THIS is why Wayne Goss will always be The Boss in the make-up game! A satin finish stick foundation with the least amount of product possible has been my go-to look since I found this channel nearly a decade ago. IMO, after age 45 or so, less really is more when it comes to make-up. Even if I'm just going to the supermarket, a clean, natural looking face & swipe of color on my lips is all I need to look pulled together & feel confident. Wayne, Lisa Eldridge & Hung Vanngo seem to be the only pro MUAs on social media who understand that beautiful, natural looking skin is the secret to a beautiful face. If only the rest of these You Tubers would take the hint, instead of slathering 2 & 3 pumps of foundation on every face they beat.

Even though i am 19 and started makeup an year back, i do this. Rarely any foundation all i want is even-ness. The advantage i feel is that i barely feel there's anything on my face. I don't even apply it to the areas I dont need. And it looks very natural,i can use a dot of foundation as a bb cream or skin tint as well, it's just the techniques. I don't wear makeup that often thou as i am a student and lack time and obviously i don't like wearing it everyday or often ,Maybe once or twice a month for me to test my skills and feel happy. Makeup is fun and it also makes me feel more confident when i know my features have been enhanced instead of making me look like a diff person. loved your comment, always such a treat to learn from seniors ❤️.

The heavy filtered style that may look perfect inside or in photos looks ENTIRELY different in natural/different lighting; usually not for the best either. I do my foundation layer similarly to this & it looks great! FYI: I'm a pale, mid 50s "elder Goth", so I so have minimal sun damage though

I remember watching Dr Denese a few years ago saying that we shouldn't even own a magnifying mirror to look at our faces because they literally enhance "imperfections". Literally nobody looks at us that close. Those are for dermatologists, not for us to become obsessed with the concept of "perfect" skin. At 50 years old I only use a good mineral sunscreen that has a wonderful blurring effect. I use Nars Creamy Concealer to even out anything that may be going on at the moment. I haven't bought foundation in 10 years and I'm not about to start. Thank you Wayne!

I think that this concept of "flawless skin" is very cultural. I'm French, I'm 58, and all my life I've seen my mother, most of my friends, my daughter, and her friends wearing no foundation and very little makeup. Most of us are obsessed with taking care of our skin. Sometimes, we are overdoing it, though. It seems "too much" should never be the answer.

I've always loved this kind of look on skin. I've practiced the 'Lisa Eldrige skin' technique for a long time. It's quite hard to get that balance with just enough coverage and too much coverage. The places that need coverage on my face (the redness around nose) are usually ones where the foundation doesn't want to stay and look easily very cakey. You also need the right products, otherwise it'll look off no matter how you apply it.

Gosh, I take over a year to use up foundation or other makeup. I always wondered why everyone else seemed to go through so much product. I try to look after my skin, but rosacea is a challenge. People usually comment I look about 10 years younger than I am. Nice video! Glad to know maybe I'm getting something right.

I'm turning 50 next yr, and I'm at a place where I dont want to wear foundation anymore unless I'm at a formal function, once every 5 yrs. My skin is in such good condition, that even if I buff on a tiny bit of foundation, it looks weird, because it looks too perfected. I want took human, not like a Hollywood mannequin. So many girls in their 20s look aged because they pack it on.

This!!!! Yes!!!!! I've been taking really good care of my skin for years now and I don't want to cover it up with thick foundation. I use minimal and I just use it in a smart way to accentuate my positives and to assist the areas that need a little help. I love that my natural skin is glowing through the makeup!! I get a ton of compliments!

Bravo Wayne! I don't wear any more foundation since I discovered tinted sunscreen. But if I were to use foundation again, I would absolutely follow your advice of way less is more. Thank you!

What tinted sunscreen do you use?

I get allergies and often have a runny nose, so my goal when wearing makeup is to not have a visible dent in the foundation layer around my nose

Love this!! It’s about emphasizing natural beauty rather than using makeup to ‘create’ it. ❤

You are so right! (As always!) I am so bewildered by these young, beautiful skin applying not only so much foundation, but so often it's not even close to their skin color. We have strayed.

I just discovered you! SO happy to find an intelligent artist for us older gals. I’ve been feeling outdated because I already use my foundation this way, and that’s not how the trend is. I just could never embrace the cakeiness or baking trend. THANK YOU Wayne! Subscribed!

I'm 41, and I've never worn a liquid foundation. I've never wanted the heavy look of it. I'm super tempted to try this now!

Thank you Wayne!!!...I've been living with a red nose the past 12 years, as I have a fungal sinus infection I can't seem to get rid of. The result is a bright red nose. After trying this technique, it blends in with my skin tone perfectly and I'm not packed with foundation. I'm now 75 years old, and less is definitely more. My great appreciation!

You never cease to amaze me! Your skin does look flawless! More than that you have brought all of us back to the basics, showing off your beautiful skin. This is why you are the number one absolute best make up artist on KZbin! Every day that I put on foundation, I hear your voice in my head, telling me to keep on buffing and buffing and buffing🙂. I’m even going to give applying lots of powder to my face a try after seeing you do it. Have a blessed day.😘😘😘

100% correct. I use 1 "stamp" of foundation one my forehead, one on my cheecks & one on my nose. A 30ml bottle lasts me about 1,5 years.

On point! I even started making short makeup videos and I never fully cover - on purpose! We got used to the ,, plastic mannequin skin look'' which is unhealthy 😊 Skin is textured and that's ok! ❤

Thanks Wayne! I find less is definitely more on my dry, mature skin.

This is how I always do my make up like this. I’m 54 and have pretty decent complexion and often will just apply a small amount of concealer and then a translucent powder to set and even things out. Job done! If I’m going out out I tend to go a bit heavier, but I wouldn’t want a lot of make up on my skin every day. This is a gospel I’m happy to repeat - thanks Wayne xxx

Wow. I’ve never heard anyone speak about this and it’s given me so much perspective. I’ve always focused on covering up my skin all these years, when my skin is actually pretty decent… would it be cheesy to say this might have actually changed my life? Lol. Cant wait to start having this mindset shift when I do my makeup now!!!
