Asking whether or not WG cares about overpowered tanks in WoT, is the wrong question. Of course, there are people at WG who care. The correct question is, are overpowered tanks profitable for WG? And the answer to that is, as long as people are buying overpowered tanks, then overpowered tanks will be in the game. And that is what the people at WG, the ones who make the big decisions care about, profits.

Personally what I hope they do is eventually ban all premium tanks from the regular matchmaker. Perhaps create a "premium only" matchmaker? Maybe make a maximum of one premium tank per team? I personally own premium tanks, but the game would be *much* better if there was an exclusive game mode for *only* tech tree tanks. Also premium tanks, especially at tier eight, kill the tank diversity of the game. There's pretty much *guaranteed* to be at least six tanks total which are either the Skorpion G or the SU 130 PM

I never thought this tank was particularly powerful, though it's been years since I played the game at all. A slow tank in this games meta at a tier where so many tanks have howitzers and so many unicums seal club with full gold and a turret that most vehicles can pen and everyone knows the weakspots of... I think my winrate in this was like 55% compared to 60% in the KV1 and 65% in the KV1S.

The 220 is bad versus aggressive players. A Churchill 1 or KV 1 who charges up to your face can directly pen a 220 on any flat side. Yet, its reputation scares them from a fight they can totally win even without gold.

Real Sealclubbers do platoon of Pz S35 full gold or M2 Light. I've played some low tier games to get Aces and I was destroyed by this type of guys when trying to do something with the useless D1 or FT-AC craps. Even with my 26K battles I was raped so how about new players ? WG don't care about that...

Only small problem with that idea is if u hide ur turret, u'll hide ur gun also... AND at tier 5, 99% of cases its NOT a working tactic to soak up all the enemy shots so ur teammates will shoot down the enemy...

That is why we KV 220 drivers tend to charge. Hiding just forces them to shoot your weak spot. Charging in the open either get them to lock on...and bounce....or try and hit a moving target, again bouncing a lot. Then there is the ram which is more dangerous then the gun on that monster.

I totally agree with you, WoT's dying slowly and the only thing they can think about is to pay influencers to promote their game, fill it with people who will then leave for these broken tanks, and so on, in an endless cycle. It's a shame, I also love this game very much, but wargaming doesn't seem to be very interested in changing course, and sadly sooner or later they will end up killing the game. Great video, Quicky. I stopped playing about 6 months ago, every time I have tried to come back I get 5 to 10, almost consecutive, games where my team is loosing or winning 15-1 then I remember why I left. Tanks are now way too fast and have a much higher alpha damage and WG is not showing any signs of slowing this down. Selling OP premium tanks is their only priority. Thanks to this I have moved on to other games, my only connection with WoT is watching QB and Skill's videos, in other words, WoT bacame a TV show to me.

That's just false. If you think OP low tier tanks kill the game, you're just stupid. Tanks like the 279e, Chieftan, EBR, and worst of all, artillery, are the reasons why the game is dying. Constant gold spam, constantly being in +2 tier MM, 15-1 games, 40% win rate players, 65% win rate players, and artillery, just to name a few more issues. Did I mention artillery? That's truly truly truly the #1 problem with the game. 3 arty games. Limit it to 1 per team and the game would be absolutely beautiful again.

Started playing in 2011, grew up with the game, loved it, played it for almost half my lifetime. Achieved nothing less than 3000+ wn8, 56% win ratio. The last time I played the game was when I got myself the Char Futur 4 after maxing out every single frontline stage in platoon with my father. The best year for the game was 2016, that's when I went from 700wn8 to above 2500. The worst year was arguably either 2018 or 2019. Then the game became to climb out from that awful state it was in. However, it became extremely boring. Playing thousands, if not tens of thousands of games on the same few maps with the same tanks, when you know every single location, every single bit of statistic becomes a bit dull after a while. I would have had tons more reasons to quit the game in 2018. But I didnt for some reason. It was still fun. I still had a few new tanks to explore. I also had the time to grind. However I couldnt continue putting the immense amount of time needed for a single tier 10 tank as a free to play player into the game. With my 18 years of age, I have to think about other stuff as well. And even if I had all the time in the world to play the game, I would still choose something else, something more energizing, something more fun, something more balanced. Im not saying WG messed up. It is only natural that power creep and overpowered tanks are in the game. I am saying that the game ran out of fun. You might think that every battle and every situation is different. However, there are only like up to 3 great positions to take on every map (at best, and then I didnt even mention that you wouldnt want to push the fields with a Maus). It is very rare that a cruical situation like a 1vX appears. You rarely have battles like this, which means you will have a much lower chance of getting through them, unless youve been playing for a long time. The timers are pretty much useless, since the games usually dont even last 7 minutes, not even 15. The only map where the timer is actually relevant is Karelia assault. All in all, I still sort of like the game, but no matter how sad I am to leave it, I have absolutely zero drive, and I just cant force myself to play it.

Worst year was 2015 when there was rampant botting and cheats galore and WG did nothing about it for way too long. It took them nearly 2 years to acknowledge the issue and start acting on it. I'll bet active players dropped at least 50% between 2014 and 2016. Of course, the release of the Defender and WG dropping all pretext of gold tanks being less capable than their tech tree equivalents was another huge nail in the coffin, but the rot was already on by then.

When I first came across the KV-220-2 it was rather discouraging until I figured out the turret weakness. You don’t always have to use gold depending on the tank/gun you’re using, but it’s very satisfying to watch the hit points drain from it with APCR or HEAT rounds. As for the pay-to-win aspect of gold tanks, I find it really turns people off from trying the game and it sucks getting destroyed 30 seconds into a game by a premium tank after you bounce all your shots. I think they could come up with a way to balance things out but it’s still enjoyable and you just have to take the good with the bad sometimes.

If youre losing every match you get in, the problem may not be your teammates. Instead of blaming matchmaking, take a moment after a match to think about how you could have done better, What could you have done to influence a win? Sometimes, its as easy as starting a push that gives your team the kick in the ass it needs. Sometimes its knowing where to position to get the most damage out of your tank.

However, for me, there are weeks where I play with the same level of skill and proficiency (high results on combined damage, damage blocked, etc.) but end up getting winrates between 60% and 26% in some tanks. Huge difference, and, from what I can see, that really is only the result of the matchmaker, as my results are the same if not higher in loss games. My recent winrate is something like 55%, so I'm not a "bad" player but there are days where I get winrates like 26%. I honestly don't know what it is. I think, however, that we could fix this issue with revamping how we give XP for wins. You should only get extra XP for a win if you're in the top ten, in my opinion. The top five on the losing team should get as much XP boost as the top ten winners. This is of course my opinion but I think it'd work

This was a thoughtful video QB and I appreciate that you raised this issue. If you are going to blame anyone - blame Wargaming. They were the ones that included this tank in the Xmas boxes. They were the ones that failed to limit the opponents that this tank faces with preferential matchmaking. They were the ones that moved all the tier 2, 3 and 4 tanks to the Collectors tab and thereby made it more likely that noobs would face overpowered tier 5 tanks when they reach that level. They were the ones that failed to prevent experienced players (above a certain player rating) from seal clubbing. I've discussed this many times whenever I feature an OP tank on my channel. There ought to be a limitation on the ability of any experienced player to jump into an OP tank and then face players that have only just joined the game. They could place a limitation that stops any player above a certain player rating from being able to join a battle with noobs. It would mean longer waits for battle, but it would stop the seal-clubbers and stat-padders from seeing noobs. Instead, they would only face players who know where all the weak-spots are on this vehicle and have a fair fight. I just heard today that Amazon has suggested that 'Toxic' players are separated from the others and placed in a restricted group with other toxic players. I rather like the idea that anyone who breaks the rules is lumped in with other rule-breakers and has to suffer a 'prison' mentality - they won't be so eager to bend over in the shower if they know the other player will take advantage of them!

I really dislike how QB constantly implies that this would be (more) OK if the tank was still a rare thing ("WG's dirty little secret). I have to categorically disagree with that. If there is a vehicle that can be mechanicly determined as OP (e.g. having Tier7 features at Tier5 with pref MM), then a single one of them in the whole world is already too many. Implying it's OK if only very few matches are totally ruined by one of these vehicles is just irresponsible and downright apologetic towards WG's terrible business preactices.

Well it is true. The less tanks there are the less games are impacted by the tank. The problem would be way less severe if wargaming didn't decide they need to sell the tank over and over again. You could complain, but the overall impact is not as severe. Take, for instance, the E25. If wargaming only sold it a couple of times years ago, it would be less of an issue as you'd run into 1 pretty rarely. But wargaming, knowing the tank is broken and is too strong, decides to sell if frequently, knowing that people will buy the tank because Wargaming refuses to nerf it. It's just ridiculous.

I agree with you, but I think it’s “not as bad” due to the fact it’s at a higher tier. While the kv is at a tier where new players are still getting into the game and this makes them want to quit. Sucks that WoT ptw mechanics are really the only thing that makes ppl leave, if they reworked how the mechanics worked and sold skins for tanks for example, they might make less money per player, but an increase in player base might make up for that. More ppl more buying skins/premium accounts(I think buying a premium for faster experience is okay)

Shoot the turret, it's wooden, and you are the one with significant DPM advantage. You don't even need gold really. I played KV-220 quite a lot and I know what I'm talking about, I penned other ones without gold frontally. If you negate the armor advantage, KV-220 is merely a sluggish scrap with shitty gun.

leFH is something you should be ashamed of having. Very Ashamed. I'm fine with the 220 because there's at least counterplay with it. But the leFH? Good luck. Other than sitting behind buildings there's 0 counterplay and they absolutely cave your skull in. M44 too. In fact, all artillery. But the leFH is a tier 5 premium SPG! And they sell it like crazy and it totally ruin the MM at those tiers. You practically see one every other game at that tier and it's just disgusting. It's a terrible mechanic in the game and it makes me (someone who has spent plenty on the game and played for over 7 years) want to quit. These blatantly unbalanced mechanics which Wargmaing fails to address ever. Then again I have like a 78% win rate in my T-34-85M... The only thing that really detriments my winrate in the 85M is tier 8 MM and the occasional potato play or triple artillery focus fire on my tank. These tanks are just straight up wrong for the game but Wargaming fails to address it ever. Wargaming has been like this from the start and it completely disappoints the playerbase who have stuck with the game for a while. At the least I still hold myself to the gold standard of not firing gold standard (Ha HA! play on words).

I love artillery... they can shoot you from anywhere, even behind walls and buildings, stun you for about the duration of 2/3 of their reload time, kill or destroy crew / modules with almost every shot. It seems very fair, especially if 2 clickers are aimed in on you. Then you are dead right when you were spotted. *sarcasm off* WG should really think of nerfing clickers massively. I dont understand how a class at tier X can deal about 600 DMG, even when not hitting directly and giving you a double debuff (i.e. stunning you and reducing overall power of your crew / vehicle, while usually even killing or damaging crew). This is outrageous and should be fixed. Give arty 3 different rounds. One to deal damage (i.e. AP), one to stun (i.e. HE) and one to damage crew or modules (i.e. special HE, aka Gold Ammo). Then it would be fair. Also show arty on the mini map with an approximate circle (i.e. 25 meter range) for about 1 to 2 sec after firing to force them to move around.

Having just played a game in my Marder 38T and came face to face with this beast, I'm so glad I found this video. I don't know how many shots I fired at this thing but only one penetrated and that was a gold round through the turret. The other gold rounds that hit the sides and engine deck all bounced off! 😲

I would say the E25 is far, FAR more op tier 4 tier, just bcz this tank needs stupid/clueless enemies to work while E25 just needs a bush The only reason the KV 220 2 has 56% wr is bcz at low tiers there are way more noobs than at high tiers Qb you kinda missed the mark with this tank, yes it kinda is op, but a good KV-1 player will outplay this thing

This sounds like when I'm playing tier 5 on console and come up against 2-5 paired Pz V/IV tanks (i.e. ram panzer). The size, weight, armament, speed, and armor is absolutely obnoxious for the tier and makes games difficult or impossible to win without a concerned team effort and many gold rounds spent. Same thing for the absolution when it first came out. Tanks that punch too far above their weight make progression or playing for fun completely not enjoyable against that kind of oppression.

Wot console is full or crap, almost every tier has an OP and non-skillful premium tanks (tier 5: Pz V, tier 6 absolution, tier 7: T29 or Minuteman, tier 8: defender, VK 100.01p, maubrecher, tier 9: Kpz 50t) For example when facing a VK 100.01p or a maubrecher is NECESSARRY using gold rounds. Actually it would be very nice those súper heavies premium VIII tanks get a nerf, it's just necessary using gold to destroy them, it's just STUPID.

@@ccv1929 The VK100P/Mauerbrecher is to be treated like a Maus. It's a super heavy but it's defeatable. Lower plate, perpendicular side shots, or back shots go through. Without premium with most on tier tanks. The defender can be frustrating but you have to know when and how to face it. It's not like the Pz V/IV or the Absolution where the only solution is brute force. The minuteman isn't quite broken but the spaced armor makes it very frustrating. The absolution by comparison is faster, more compact, has more complete spaced armor, and a fast rate of fire.

When I began WoT since more 6 years we had to fight at T4 the T6 KV1s with 122mm gun (IS gun now) it was more terrific and difficult than this broken KV220. And the KV1 had magical ( invincible) tracks ,the IS6 was impossible to pierce with a medium T6 T7 even when flanking. So I think that new players will learn how to play well like we did since more 6 years.:)

Last year when the E25 went up for sale for the first time in a long time everyone was talking about it in the battles. I responded to someone asking if our team was going to buy it and my reply was "I don't even want that broken OP tank in my garage" to which they laughed. But I never bought it then and since then it has been on sale at least once or twice more I still haven't bought it (I also love that WG know people hate it and it's broken, cause they called it a cockroach tank one time and "everyone hates me" in another to try and sell more of them). I do like premium tanks for crew training and credit making but the ones that simply break the game I am not for at all. Paying to win doesn't sit well with me, I roll my eyes at premium tanks that are know to be OP and people that buy them just to pad their win rates or players that only fire gold ammunition.

I got a welcome back coupon for the store on the same day this tank was on flash sale for ~12$. I paid around ~7$ for it. The tank is not invincible, as for some reason the 220’s premium matchmaking bracket put you up against another 220 every game. I don’t fire gold, and 99 pen is enough to deal with other 220s. It is like a raid boss for their 4s though... Of course a KV1, PzIV, or Sherman with a derp is also a solid choice for chipping away at it.

I completely agree with this. I played alot several years ago, and quit because of artillery. Heard they changed it a while back but never got back into it until recently. Two friends decided to try it for the first time and i walked them through basics and we started the grind. We got to tier 8, since they are new, we lose alot, and we are a 3 man platoon so its always bottom tier, and when we are top tier we try our best. But there are so many new op premium tanks across many tiers but in 8 especially that just destroy the fun.

I agree with you to a certain degree. I have been playing the game on and off for over 7 years now. I actually find this vehicle less of a pain to deal with than the OP things at tier 10. Chieftain and 279e spring to mind. And now the insane amount of auto loaders in the game is getting ridiculous and the the stupid car things. Yes, add more vehicles but balance them so tanks like the Tiger II are still relevant in the game or add another tier so WW2 vehicles don't see more modern tanks.....M48, Emils, AMX30B and so on. Even the poor old IS-3 has been left behind and it was the best tier 8 heavy in it's day. I stopped playing high tiers as the modern day era vehicles are just making the game unplayable unless that is all you have. The game has lost its fun factor and that is a shame.

Had a game today where I had my Matilda firing shells at point blank range into a KV-220's side -- two of the three shots I fired off went right through his upper hull without doing anything. No bounces, not eaten by tracks, no damage, just nothing. So as if it's not OP enough it seems to get bonus Ghost Shells probabilities. With this we see the difference with WG's management of expensive premium tanks -- the PzIIJ is a shadow of its former self while I suspect the KV-220 will never be nerfed.

This is one of those tanks you should play, maybe once a month, and you just drive it straight into the enemy base without stopping. Sometimes you make it, sometimes you don't. Good fun either way. After ruining an enemy team with the 220-2 I will then hop into the TOG and restore my karma by being an exp pinata for another team.

was playing my luchs the other day, and i investigated the entirety of my team and the other team... seems the majority of lower tier players have at least 5k games, i counted 7 new ish players of which 3 had 500 or less battles, and those other 4 had 1-2k battles.... Not really puppies anymore... I have noticed that the majority of players at low tier have at least 5k plus games

Yes, I agree. It is expensive to shoot at this tank and not reliable at all still. HEs may work some, but then it is even harder to hit it and I gues it can take a lot of hits before going down.

OK so the way me and some off my friends deal with this one is: 3 of us swarm him, meanwhile the guy wit the highest damage flanks him and attacks him from behind. About his team the rest of our team lures them away by attacking or capturing the point. This also sometimes works against a t 29.

I have the 220-2 and got it when it first came out. It was not a for purchase tank, you had to earn this tank, which made it very rare. I think the problem is when they began selling this tank, as they have done with other special tanks.

I got this tank from a Christmas box two years ago when WG gave everyone three large Christmas boxes. It sure is a pain to play against, but I haven't found it much fun to play either. The gun is very underwhelming (a good thing, considering the trollish hull) unless you have a great crew and fire lots of gold.

Way to deal with it: Weight the matchmaker so tanks that are performing above average see higher tier matches more often. That way you can keep put those tanks against more competitive opponents without having to nerf the tank directly.

To be honest it was also part of one of first marathons I remember - the one where you could go for Type62 or KV220 (or even both). Thats how I got it for free. Not that I play it but its much lesser problem in battles than ... Defender on tier 8. I have seen a rather good amount of skilled players having incredible impact (65+% WR) in mid (5-6) tier premiums with skilled crew, consumables, gold rounds ... that AT2 could have such a game if he had such crew ect even taking KV220 down because his armor worked even better when QB knew where to shoot. No fresh churchill of novice without anything and 60-80% crew can (or somehowe even should) compete.

Let's be honest, in tier 5 we have now more experienced players than noobs, and this particular tank was a part of loot boxes last year, so a bunch of players got it from there, and didn't spend 50€ for it! ;) I got it this way! Last year I bought 11 boxes and got SU-130PM and this one, and the year before, I bought only 3 boxes and I got E25! So I got those 2 tanks for 15€ both, and not for a 100€ price! ;)

Don't worry about vehicle imbalance too much. If it isn't an OP premium tank that ruins the experience, then it's a gap of 50-100k games of experience, or a four skill crew vs a zero skill crew, or a really good mid tier tech tree tank against one of those you just have to suffer through to get the next one... it's just a frustrating game design so you buy stuff period.

But i think it also was a prize in a marathon type event about a year ago if i'm not mistaken where you could win three premiums in the same marathon that lasted a couple of weeks to accomplish.
