Seems like you missed that the blade seems to lock into that back spacer/lock, especially if you look at the images on the website

The blade is definitely intended to latch open. It's called a lockback on their site. What a cool looking knife with some actual premium materials.

Abalone inlays, actually. Abalone is colored while mother of pearl is generally white/gray.

@BladeLabMiami I agree that Abalone is much more colourful from all angles, but MoP is subtley colourful when light hits it at the right angle... this is where the term 'pearlescent' comes from... so we can agree to disagree I guess, but I'm happy to be proven wrong...

It looks like it locks if you press the back bar and push down the flipper tab. It looks like possibly you didn’t open the knife all the way.

it looks to me that the backspacer is the lock, if it flexes inwart the it would catch the blade extension. Also it seams not fully open

Mother of pearl is the material you were searching for and the knife looks like a bird to me. The mother of pearl being the wings, the blade the beak and if you notice by the tail (fan shaped bit opposite the blade) there seemed to be a button mkving that purple lever to lock and unlock blade. You are quite correct it ks very unusual but really beautiful. Katsu is my choice when i go to Korean bbq, I love fried chicken.

I know that commenting on stuff means engagement and promotion, and while I truly wish to demote the video... From the way the guy handles and talks about knives it seems that he's one of those knife-bros, who are basically the same thing to knives that a 'murican sports glasses wearing neckbeard pickup owner is to cars. IMO The overly loud, gaudiness of this knife takes away from all the clever design aspects and just makes it look like a timascus nightmare. Just Too much going on for such a small knife. I’d say “gas station knife” if a little more restraint went into it is design.

Yep. Looks like a copper damascus. QSP has some higher priced kitchen knives with a similar looking Damascus. I would also counter the perseption that intricate means delicate.

ofc theres a core dude. it's generic mild stainless with copper and brass cladding. it's a fairly standard thing they do in Seki.. sometimes called "rainbow damascus." various variations on it.

To keep prints to a minimum a quick spray of ammonia on my fingertips works wonders when I don't have gloves handy, and the old school ammonia windex isn't hard on my skin either.

I’m not sure, but it looks like you can manipulate that purple bar that runs down the spine to lock the blade out. It just looks like the back of the front flipper clips into that purple bar, almost like a back lock or scorpion lock does.
