Really great listen, Eppie! Years ago I had to learn that valuable lesson of rest. My work had totally burned me out and I felt empty inside. I kept telling myself I didn’t have time for art, etc… but actually I did, I just had to prioritize my life and force myself to “rest”, meaning to unplug from my work and focus on art, sewing, walking, reading a book… it all works, and helps our lives become healthier and more meaningful.😊

I’m happy to say, that doing your needlepoint is now my rest. I’m using it to keep my hands busy and it helps my mind calm itself.

Ahh I am so glad! It’s such good relaxation for having something to focus on and keep your hands busy, but not so intense it becomes stressful in itself!

Well said Eppie, totally agree with you especially when it comes to setting boundaries. Listening to our elders too, we can learn much from them. Great to see you back and looking forward to hearing about your travels and ideas for 2025. 😊

The studio member articles have been wonderful to read, im glad ive signed up finally🎉 im so excited to hear about the India trip, i feel like embroidery practically originated there so its sort of like a pilgrimage to get to see it in real life! I get you on burn out as a freelancer- time off means potentially lost money 😅 it can be draining.

Very happy to have you back since I look forward to your weekly videos but in the same vein and I'm also very happy you took proper time off. I'm in my 60s and getting towards the end of my career and I can tell you that creating work/life bounderies is one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself. I found that when I didn't create proper work/life bounderies it made me resentfull and angry towards work because in reality I was angry at myself for not setting those bounderies. I have found that setting bounderies is one of the greatest acts of self-love and compassion you can do. It's amazing that you have figured this out at such a young age - It took me until my 50s until I figured out how important it is to set bounderies.

As a reflexologist & running my own business I know just how important it is to rest & recharge. Loved watching your video & hearing how with a few lifestyle & work changes this is going to work for you. Love your kits & frames so original. I’m excited to hear your new ideas…when you are ready, Festina Lente, Claire x

I so appreciate your reflections on the importance of rest and “switching off” work. My work is very different from yours, but these suggestions are very helpful and I will be thinking about how to apply them to my own situation! Thank you and I’m excited to see what your new creative ideas will mean!
