Ive been obsessed with Barbie as a kid and it was fun. I dont remember being insecure or whatever. We were just kids.
@Noah-fp3kjАй бұрын
Maybe for you, but kids can internalize way more than what you think. for example, if you blame yourself for "being bad" for eating a cookie in front of a five year old, or say to the toddler parents that the kid is chubby and should change the kid's diet, the child will normalize that, and understand that you should exercise your body to fit certain body types, instead of exercise to be healthy, or that they should stop eating, even if they are still hungry. On top of all of that, if the only way to make the child "play in a situation where they are a successful adult", is by being a person that has "eurocentric beauty standards", while shaming yourself about not fitting those standards, the child will understand that they are "less" cos they don't look like that, not mentioning other ways, like saying that the doll is very pretty in front of the kid, and at the same time shaming yourself, the kid will interiorice a lot (this said, barbie is a great movie, and this is not directed towards anyone at all, but if anyone is reading this now it may be cos they support the message of the movie, and I think that's great, but if you think that with everything that's going on on the world right now, barbie is the "message that feminism should be talking about now", you have a very wrong view of feminism and only support one specific kind of women)
