Yeah, yeah... Tony Angelo already did it. But aside from having a turbo in the mix, there is almost zero relation between his awesome, cheap and sketchy D100 build and what I've got going on here. And I've been planning this one for years. If you want more background on the recipe, I did a video almost a year and a half ago detailing my plans for this build. One thing has changed - I will no longer be installing a used, 200k mile Cummins turbo. What flavor of spooly boy I go with remains to be seen. In all likelihood, it will have come straight over the pond from the land of cheap parts and industrial wonderment. But that's a subject for a future video. Today, I want to get the new intake and four barrel MSD Atomic EFI system in place and make some fuel injected slant six noises for the first time. Let's dig in!

My dad had a 63 Valiant wagon when I was 15... I'm 53 now. He pulled into our driveway one summer evening driving a meticulous wagon that he just bought off a local farmer for 300 bucks. (circa 1985) THAT was the car I learned to drive in and he taught me how to adjust the valves, among other valuable skills. He kept that car for a few years until he traded it for a 66 Chevy pickup with a 327... He wouldn't let me drive that. 😉

Hey a Valiant. Australia was making Vals till about 81. Get the stub axle assemblies off a late model Oz Val & as well as getting relatively modern large diametre ventilated disk rotors, you get large alloy calibers, a set of much better balljoints (they hang off the stub axle assembly, not the control arms) & a rear diff with nice big finned drums on, plus a nice thick front swaybar. Mind you the diff assembly is like about 10mm wider (5mm per side) so to get it to drop into the leaf spring mounts you have to pull on them out a little, then they drop in fine. The brake booster & hydraulic reservoir from the 81 drops straight into the old Vals, balancing the new brakes out. I could spend half an hour ringing local wrecking yards in Sydney if you want. I had a VG(1971) Valiant Safari Wagon which i fitted with a VIP interior & exterior, a Pacer dash & 265 Hemi engine & front & rear suspension & brakes from a CM(1981). I loved that Pacer dash, it had like 6 gauges on the front but on the back it was a single plug & a single circuit board, just with bayonet mounted dash globes & a cable for the speedo, plus an added ignition wire for the tacho as my car wasn’t made to be fitted with one. Do American Vals have dash wiring that’s just a single circuit board ‘n plug & speedo cable?

I attempted to run a return line into the vent tube on my 65 A body with a mechanical fuel pump. The return fuel went about equal parts back into the tank and down the side of the car out of the gas cap. Not the desired result. After some thought I pulled the filler tube from the tank, drilled and taped a hole for a pipe fitting, and then covered the junction with fuel tank repair putty. The fitting and return hose face the back seat. Was cheap, no dangerous drilling, and I am happy with the result. Did wind up putting a new filler neck grommet in the tank.
