Wow is my first thoughts. This would be the diorama of my dreams also. So many ways you can go with this so here is one thought.Tank Factory with Factory being stressed here. You need at least 2 tanks. One complete and one at the last stages with the turret being on a host ready to be lowered on to the hull. If you were to do the RR track you could add a 3rd tank being driven to the flat car or already resting on the flat car. I'd bet Miniart is your go to for all the workers and factory equipment. I can't wait to follow your progress on this Awesome Diorama!

Usually war related dioramas can be pretty dour. In this instance one option you could look at would be to have the factory producing Panzer I tanks in the mid to late mid 30s, before the war. You could add some trees and colors to make it late Summer or early Fall, and have the tone set to be a bit more relaxed and leisurely. You could even have some workers sitting outside in the courtyard eating lunch or taking a break, maybe one catching a nap in the back of the truck. The Panzer I also has the benefit of being on the smaller side, allowing you a little bit more room to maneuver with the other components you want to add without it seeming overly busy or crowded.

Say, do you have any videos showing the way to setup spray painter thing, and/or how to do the spray painting and/or how to set up a place to do the painting (so the paint mist doesn't get on anything else in the home) ? Because if you do, you could put links to those educational videos into the description below of the videos you create for this Diorama build. Your excitement is contagious - and I'm lovin' it !

I think a Tiger or a Panzer III would be cool. A panzer III might be easier if you’re build a couple to put on a rail depot diorama as well.

I would vote for a couple of Ryefield Panzer III with interior kits inside at various stages. Then get a couple of the Ryefield Panzer III without interior kits for outside.
@szwagierPaul3 жыл бұрын
I would check which tank fits the diorama best. Can’t be too big. We have Panzer I, Panzer II Ausf. C, Panzer III, Panther, Tiger I and Tiger II. But I would go with VK prototypes. We have VK 30.01(H) and VK 36.01(H). Both should be available as Trumpeter and RyeFieldModels made them.

There also can be PAK 43 and it should fit through the doors. If We stick to the Henschel factory.

This is nice but far too small to be anything other than a backdrop and is more suited to be useful for say a Beer brewery, Vehicle factory. Looks amazing but you'd have far better use and results if you scratch built it instead, this is very basic and a bit limiting for the price and hours of work required and seems a tad out of scale from 1/35 tanks shown. Scratch building is your best route and Andy could really pull it off. Great video, very excited to see what you pull off with this kit. I'd say Early Panzer 4 or late Panzer 3, although 1's and 2's would work or a Stug as well. P.S Look at some photo's from the period of Tank manufacturing facilities and you'll see just how small this Kit version seems for what was being built, the kit is beautiful but to me seems way to small for Tanks ;) I could well be wrong (Wouldn't be the first or last time lol).
@РусланСоколов-ь7т2 жыл бұрын
Good luck with such an awesome project! It may represent allied/soviet tank as well, if we imagine late 1944/early 1945 - assault on german tank factory. Thus, Sherman/T-34/etc may be a fresh idea))
@jilthunder22763 жыл бұрын
Showing a vehicle getting painted in its basic colour during the final step of the built would be nice. Or maybe the examination of a trophy tank by a commission. There f.e. is one image, showing a Soviet KV-2 being inspected at the Henschel works in Kassel in 1941! :) Best regards from Germany, Jens
@chemech3 жыл бұрын
Trumpeter sells 1/35 static models of gondolas, flatcars, and track, which would be the thing for a rail siding serving the factory. They also sell a WR360 C12 small diesel switcher if you want to get elaborate. Their BR52 steam locomotive however is rather long, and probably not a good fit for the scene. Beyond that, you are looking at some serious scratchbuilding / kitbashing for railroad items in 1:35 scale
@rustykilt3 жыл бұрын
Many years ago I purchased a DRAGON 1/72 ( i think, may be 1/144) display model showing a tank production line featuring 2 King Tigers. The scene depicts a couple of GI's examining the tanks after the site was captured. It has the Gantry and Crane and a basic workshop backdrop. If this could be done in 1/35 It would be amazing. love your work.
@glenngosline33032 жыл бұрын
I think a King Tiger. Being a factory hoping to see machine tools added as well along with oxygen and acetylene bottles. King Tiger turrets on the stands look neat several pictures on the internet and books show that. Whatever you decide I am sure will look great. I remember Fransico Verlinden did the shadow box diorama with the Tiger 1 I believe. Have the book somewhere will have to look.

If you want to do the Henschel factory then it depends on the date you chose: 1935-40 Panzer I, 1939-42 Panzer III, 1942-45 Tiger, 1944-45 Tiger II. Might be good to do two types so a late Panzer I and early Panzer II, or a late Tiger and early Tiger II? For Krupp maybe a Stug IV and a Pak 43? Perhaps one of the subjects built and one under construction?

Looks like a great project. It’s gonna be huge so don’t make it so big that you can’t move it. Really looking forward to seeing what you come up with
@timsmith45483 жыл бұрын
My first thoughts go to the base (lessons learned the hard way over the years) and how mobile you want it to be. Model railroaders have been making travel layouts forever so there are a lot of plans and tips out there for framing it and installing handles to move it around. I think I'd also (carefully) pin that plaster smoke stack so that it could be disassembled anytime you need to shift the diorama around. There's so many ways to go with this kit! You could have it working with tanks (or really anything) in production, you could have it under attack with your choice of allies verses regular troops or the volksgrenadiers, or even a bombed out factory with civilians clearing rubble. The possibilities of adding lighting are another thing to consider when doing the planning. I'm sitting on a couple of LED kits to simulate welders that I plan to use "when I get the time." This will certainly be a long build but I know it'll be awesome once its done!
@paoloviti61563 жыл бұрын
Well said but if I may I would recommend to install lights hanging on the ceiling and on the workbenches. The possibilities are endless...

You should add a kriegslokomotive and a couple box cars out in front of the road, but build it with the tracks lower than the road level so the cargo doors are road height for unloading and lowering the rail scene for the view of the background.

If it was me personally I’d go with the tigers. Either or will do the tiger or the kind tiger BUT if you plan on adding a rail yard or tanks on flatbeds of trains then I’d do the panzer III. I think it’ll look better on a rail car then a giant tiger. That’s just my opinion! Looks like a TON of work but a great deal of fun so enjoy!!

How about the Dzerzhinsky tractor factory in Stalingrad? It supposedly was pumping out T34s and Katyushas that went directly in to battle before it was shut down. There are lots of pictures of the factory as well as several very interesting pictures of T34 hulls lined up outside the factory. Can show the transition of tanks moving from a busy working factory to a dirty battlefield all in one diorama!
