Totally understand the burnout. I keep my mindset that it a factory requires more than 150 of three same machine, I need to tone it down, even if that means building another one later to make the same thing. This lets me do piece work on a factory and move on to another project quicker. Also, build a section, go explore and screw around for a bit, then come back. Keeps me from getting fried.

okay so im going to dump a theory i have on you.. post 1.0 from the programming side of the game, foundation pieces are far more taxing en-masse than machines are. I know that's very unintuitive but i think its a side effect of unreal engine, just hear me out... im an aspiring game dev so ive dabbled in UE a bit. there was a video a while back pre 1.0 and Snutt said Coffee stain went thru the game and changed all the foundations to not be heavy actors anymore, so they basically just store position data and graphical data. in UE, heavy actors (machines and certain other buildable) are able to switch LOD models at different distances, meaning stuff become less computer intensive as you get further away. Now while foundations are not classified as heavy actors anymore making their overall "computational cost to place" less, i do not believe they have alt LOD models. meaning no matter how far you are away, if the foundation is visible, every spec of detail on it is being rendered. the end result of this change is that you can have more foundations in the whole map in 1.0 than you could previously... HOWEVER, the downside is that putting alot of foundations all in 1 area, and specifically within 1 map cell, can drastically hurt performance more than it ever did pre 1.0. I tested this a few different ways but the easiest way to really understand what i mean is load up a fresh world in creative mode, go out to the ocean and build a completely solid 100x100x100 cube of 4x4 foundations. by the time you have it done, the performance is comparable to a 500 hour save file with a facotry that spreads across 10 biomes. I was very perplexed with this because i have a 14700k and a 4080. I play 4k on ultra settings and could beat the game and go DEEP into engame and have at least 7-8 megabuilds before the game started to really decline and stutter, but even then the lowest fps i got was 80ish... when i did the cube test, while i was able to stay in triple digit fps, the game was reliably stuttering every 2-3 seconds. this was in the vanilla game. no machines, no miners, no logistics, no background math in the game really running, and constant stuttering with nothing but foundations after CS said foundations are now far less intensive. What you just read is the only thing i can think of that makes sense. now like i mentioned, i did some other tests like using a zoopable blueprint mod and cheat mod to bypass resource input, again load a fresh save but i dropped a 500 nuclear reactor arry down, powered it up to get the smoke rendering and everything, 20ps drop and 0 stutters i fps cap to 144 and it was hanging around 125. I know this a long winded comment but im telling you man something is up with performance is effected by foundations in 1.0. I relate to your build style using huge massive planes to make the factory on and honestly i feel its become less viable in 1.0. The save file i have going with my buddy is also vanilla but its a complete spaghetti lets game it out type map with almost no foundations anywhere, just machines on the ground like we a bunch of savages, but still the performance is far superior to my "clean build" solo worlds with huge planes of concrete that cover the entire desert... :(

@shroomzy5000 this was a awesome read, and I really think your onto something. I hope they have realized this and will make adjustments. I'll be sure to use less foundations in my next builds, or atleast try too. Lol thank you a bunch for the good info

One of the design choices I made in my current playthrough is the refine and upgrade as much as possible near the nodes. The hold is that it will spread out and limit the amount of total objects. The ultimate goal is to have all logistics done by drones as highish mid tier items are not being produced in the 1000s per unit in a local area. I have noticed some limitations specifically with aluminum products so I may need to use trains for though but otherwise things are going strong. I just automated power shards so I am in the process of compacting current builds. I enjoyed the video series and look forward to the next one.
@seethrewАй бұрын
@@jacobgoerz1953 so a bunch of drones hasn't made your playthrough worse?
@jacobgoerz1953Ай бұрын
@@seethrew it takes a substantially large factory to saturate a couple drones moving computers and equivalent items. As said earlier, I may need to break the rule with aluminum products (sheets/cases) as aluminum sources are isolated from most other materials. The debate I am having currently is if I connect a train network between factory areas, it would be trivial to include the items currently moved by drones. I am also only at 50GW consumption (only overclocking power shard production no slooping) in scale so my opinion may change in time.

holy. that build mod that adds a bunch of stuff looks super fleshed out! I'm excited for the new playthrough. Sucks that the game is struggling. I'm experiencing similar issues after building my 5 rocket propulsion units/min factory. I swear it can handle it. But something after 1.0 is messing with the processing. I still believe the blueprints are an issue. But you made most of your stuff without blueprints. RIP this world but I'm looking forward to the next one

The FPS problems are not because of your „big builds“ hahah. I’m in this game since update 3. I had a complete play through with all the parts (same for the space elevator). And I build as much as you and never had a fps problem. And that was like 1 year ago. The performance was even worse then now. Tschuki, one of the biggest German satisfactory youtubers/streamers and his crew of like 10 ppl builds a huuuge world with like 100 giant factory’s and rails and tunnels and and and. And they had no fps problems. So I think it’s just the game at the moment or your settings/pc. Don’t get me wrong bro. I love you and your videos and watched all of them and I’m very happy when I see a new video of you. No matter a new playthrough or this map. Keep going with that content, I love it :)

could be my setup, although im 1 step down from having the "best" stuff. I also have everything turned down to low and get about 90 fps when standing still 50 when im moving and 20-40 when building. I wish i had another 3k to upgrade to the best stuff, but i sadly dont wanna since my PC is already 3k.

Excited for a new play through hope the lag issues get fixed it’s affecting me too and it sucks. On the subject of videos could you do a video every other day? Would that give you enough time to edit? Your builds go up pretty fast if it was only like 1-2 videos per week I feel there’d have been too much going on to capture in a single video. Just my thoughts I’ll watch whatever you put up haha loving it.

One of my big gripes about the Development of this game is that they neglected to put in higher tiers of machines so that you did not HAVE to make massive factories for everything later on. Why force me to build 200 fuel generators when I could build 20 MK5 generators that did the same job but had a substantial cost?
@seethrewАй бұрын
that sounds like a better way to do it for sure. The numbers are all so weird honestly 1800 oil->3600 residue->1000 fuel->200 rocket fuel (not real numbers, just a example lol) But seriously they are just wild sometimes.
@shroomzy5000Ай бұрын
if this is an issue for you just use the upgradable machine mod. Mod community got mods on 1.0 now and most of popular mods have been updated to 1.0 compatible. MK++ wasnt carried over but andre aquilla made a mod that adds a new item called upgrade packs to the MAM. you can infinetly upgrade even a single machine to handle the thru put of your entire production line, or stop somewhere in the middle. My friend plays on a laptop and even tho i got a powerful pc, even as the host he lags once to many machines get put down so we basically couldnt even play together untill mods got updated.

Dude I love your massive builds so far, maybe if you delete all the things you're not utilizing at the moment you'll raise your FPS back up, also you can try overclocking some stuff so they're not so many builds. My 2 cents. fps. It’s a factory game… not an FPS. IMHO you should be able to survive some places where the fps drops. Otherwise use plain walls to separate your factories and thus reduce the amount of calculations needed at any point. I also don’t understand why people build gigantic power generators plants and never use them. Build smaller plants that are easily expandable when you need more power. This will allow you to get less bored as well.
@seethrewАй бұрын
@Newmeishu frames per second. And first person shooter are 2 totally different things tho? But you are very right about power, but if my goal is to make the most power I possibly can then that should help you understand why I do it.
