I’d recommend reading Roman Holiday if you’re at all interested in learning more about Neo. After the Fall and Before the Dawn are also excellent reads if you get the chance. Oh Neo. Was this everything you ever wanted? Huh? Was revenge all it was cracked up to be? Didn’t think about what came after, did you? Spent a year or so with nothing but vengeance keeping you moving forward… And now, you’re being controlled by a being with more malice than even you were capable of mustering. Not that she certainly didn’t give it the old college try, holy shit. That was one of the most visceral physical and mental beat downs of a character I have ever seen and the nonchalance with which Neo did it? Having all of Ruby’s perceived failures take literal and figurative shots at her? Having her cut down Oscar before watching Little get crushed? Speaking of, Little’s an Afteran and the only way for them to truly die is for them to be eaten by the Jabberwalker. So they’re more than likely being reborn/reincarnated like Ruby I’d imagine. The fact that Yang watched her sister, the person she loves most in this world, the person she practically raised and spent the majority of her life protecting, end her own life? I mean, just look at her after Ruby disappears she’s completely catatonic. Blake actually steps in front of her when the Cat blasts them because Yang doesn’t make a move at all. I never trusted the Cat entirely but I never expected this of them, holy hell. That is some nightmare fuel. I genuinely don’t know what’s going to happen in these last two episodes. But if the reunion isn’t 100x more tear filled than the reunion in V5 what even is the point? I want gross sobbing. I want Yang giving Ruby the biggest bear hug and clutching onto her because she doesn’t want to lose her again.

Why is it that the two brothers want Salem to learn the importance of death when they had created the Ever After without death but rather Ascension

I think it's because they aren't in the Ever After. That had existed as long as the Tree did. They were made, by the Tree, to tame and develope it. Also, those who go through Ascension have to cast their old selves (ie "die") in order to be resurrected into something new. However, something like the Tree didn't exist in the world they moved to, so Ascension wasn't possible. Death still existed since the old has to be cleared away in order for the new to form. The world just wasn't designed to support continual life without repree.

I know we're meant to feel bad for Neo at 14:00, but this episode really solidified my hatred for her. She literally spent her time beating down, both physically and emotionally, a teenage girl for some twisted form of revenge. And she only targeted Ruby after realizing Cinder was too powerful (their fight in Haven). We're looking at a full-grown woman push a broken girl into committing suicide and suddenly feeling bad, not for doing it, but because she didn't think through that she'd have nothing left. I don't feel sorry for Neo, because in the end, she was an adult that was too scared to accept the truth, and when she wasn't strong enough to kill one person, she went after a 17-year-old girl instead.

During my own reaction I was a little too shocked to put my thoughts in order, but I have to say this episode is downright heartbreaking. Ruby' breakdown is difficult to watch because of how much it hits home. The feeling of no longer wanting to be yourself, wanting to do ANYTHING that'll help you forget the pain, and blaming yourself for anything that went wrong, even if it was out of your control. This is probably one of the most accurate depictions of suicidal depression I've seen in media. (From my personal perspective at least.) I truly hope she gets help and finds happiness by the end of the show, but I don't know if it'll happen by the end of this Volume. I don't have much else to say other than I kinda hope Neo isn't dead. She obviously did something truly awful this episode, but nobody deserves to die like that. It also doesn't help that Roman Holiday made me sympathize with her and turn her into one of my favorite characters in the series. Great reaction as always!
