If you ain't making mistakes, you ain't doing anything! Don't beat yourself up, most of us have done that same thing, or similar! It's not a big deal, just frustrating. Congratulations on getting your planting done, Grant, and y'all are almost done Laura. Hope the best for the season! We're done with corn, beans, and cotton here in Alabama and some are about to harvest wheat, although we don't have any in ground.

Laura, don't beat yourself up to much about backing up with the planter down. I've been making maple syrup for 50 plus years and to this day I still spill a little, ya just gotta clean it up/fix it and keep going forward. You have come so far in the past few years, I'm very proud of you!! Grandma always said you can't cry over spilt milk!

You need homemade mudflaps that fold backward to prevent dirt from clogging the seed spouts when you backup. And from the front side, a metal bar that goes between the 2 blades prevents any mud from building up,

Hi guys, The green pick up at, (pause 4:52), is still looking awesome, Glad you guys managed to get the planting done, that’s been planned so far, Some things may happen that wasn’t meant to happen when planting Laura, Grant has already found that out as well, But you’ve just got to not stress yourselves out about it, Yes it may mean that you have to either clean the system out or replace something, But as long as things are moving forward and not backwards, you are still making progress, 😎👍🏼 🚜🌾🌾🌾🌾

I remember one hot summer day I wanted to go swimming but couldn't until I had cultivated the corn. So I figured if I drove the cultivator a little faster I would finish sooner and get to swimming sooner. That was the logic of a 16YO farm boy. Well it didn't work out. As it works out the faster you go with a cultivator the higher the mound is created, the smaller corn is then covered with dirt from the fast cultivating. Long story, even longer - after it was discovered most of the corn was covered I had to take a pitch fork and manually uncover each corn sprout instead of swimming. Moral: take your time and don't speed through your chores.

I was thinking as your dad walked under the irrigation pivots to check the spray pattern. You are indeed blessed to have that backup when that hard crust forms over the seeds. Imagine the farms that have no irrigation at all. They can only look to the sky and watch the clouds go by without a drop of rain. . . . count your blessings. 🤔

@@rco226 300°? our bitumen (black top) melts in the Aussie summer sun when it gets to 45° Celsius. That's nowhere near 300° farenheit. But your right about the weeds. I have seen weeds growing through & cracking concrete walls & floors 12 storeys up on buildings we were demolishing. The seeds are "deposited" in the pigeon poop & away they go. 🕊️💩.
