Well, this is it. The end of van life as I know it.
In an unexpected turn of events, I sold my van this week and moved into a smaller, temporary space to take a trip to Arizona. While this is the end of van life for me, it's not the end of life on the road - far from it.
I will be traveling in this lil rental rig (24 hour conversion!) for a few weeks before picking up my NEW rig...any guesses as to what it will be?

Hi everyone! Lots of confusion on why I sold the van, and what I mean when I say that it will bring me freedom. I had a very different life and vision for van life when I bought it early on in 2021. I thought I would be working a corporate job and living in a big city, making some comforts of a "nicer" van with a warranty, and some stealth, important to me. Fast forward, and I have left that job, moved out of the city, and was left with a big ol van payment that didn't make sense. So I sold the van, paid off all of my debt, and am now finding freedom on the road in a new way :)

It used to be cheaper to get a decent motel room for a month then rent a vehicle . Today getting that motel room is a struggle unless it’s a dump . My grandfather always told me if a depression hits and you have to choose between making your house payment or your van payment make the van payment every time . I was shocked . He had a nice house . He explained to me that his father was in that position once . He made the house payment and lost the van . Now he couldn’t get to work . So six months later he lost the house . Having a van just in case for the rest of my life .

Unfortunate, but good advice, in my opinion! Ideally we could all make both, but having a vehicle and a home is something that I would personally choose, if the choice had to be made.❤

I have a bird sanctuary and abused horses, mules and donkeys. I help traveling nomads now. You are welcome to come and stay and make this place a home base to explore our beautiful west. My 23 year old son and I are suddenly ousted from our home the landlord decided to renege on our reup to sell the home. Rents have skyrocket and availability scare…. For added security, always park where you have a phone signal and write down your satellite navigation coordinates to give to police if you have a potential intruder. These coordinates will tell the police exactly where you are. Make sure you have a panic button to your alarm system and lights on each corner of the van, that you can turn on, that will frighten off any potential intruder. Travelling with your dog is also a good deterrent as well as combatting loneliness. Your videos are always interesting so don't give up, stay positive.

Hey there! I just came across your video randomly. I quit the van life a little over year ago, I have turned 60 now and I was alone with my dog for 2 + years. I really enjoyed New Mexico and Arizona and I met some fantastic people. Prior to deciding to live in my vehicle I lived 10 years off the grid in a one-room Cabin in the Woods of the Ozarks. Living in my van to start, and by the end I was in a pickup truck, was one of the Great Adventures of my life. I am very grateful to the people I met in Van life and cheap RV living and a few other Facebook groups. I did discover that my 10 years off grid gave me lots of experience that I would need living in a van. Eventually as everything does, it was time to find a place to settle as medical needs became an issue. I had the most difficult 3 months of my life living in an apartment for the first time in almost 20 years. The walls felt like they were closing in on me. I'm very happy to have come across your post and it looks like you swapped your van for a bus? I'm very envious and so very happy for you at the same time. I have been to Joshua Tree, I wish our paths had crossed at some point! So even though I just found you randomly, I decided I would like to keep up and see where you go next and I will live my life virtually through your adventures as I no longer can live on the road. You sound like a wonderful and interesting person and I love your fur family. I know I was grateful for my dog. Take care and I will be looking forward to reading some more about your adventures. About 10 years ago I had a meeting with my son and his lawyer and the crappy lawyer loudly whispered to my son: this is a delicate matter is your mom able to handle the information? I was sitting right there! My son looked at me, then turned back to the lawyer and said: DUDE, My Mom is a PITBULL. We laugh about that to this day! Greatest compliment this single mother ever received! But I have to be humble and tell you I don't know if I am so much of a badass or rather if it was never a question in my mind if I could do it or not. I made so many mistakes that I laugh about and that give me the tickles. Here was this citified lady who ran away to the Ozarks and didn't really even know how to build a fire. I didn't know people still lived on a dirt road. I was born and raised and worked on cement my whole damn life and was very ignorant to a rural situation. I was raised by a single mother in the sixties mind you whose motto was kind of like if you want something done then do it yourself. So I've just always done what I needed to and I think I'm blessed. Yeah. I am blessed. The only thing I researched ahead of time was how to make a bathroom in the woods! Anyway you are a lovely person and here I am your right I'm an actual born storyteller. I could go on and on and on and on, LOL. Bless your heart. When I was in a hostile work environment, a friend asked me what was wrong. I told him I hated my job and it was affecting my health. He asked what am I going to do? I told him I didn't know what to do. He took his glasses off and looked at me and told me I did know exactly what to do. He said if i had to make a decision right that minute, what would I do? . I said I would quit. He asked why I was hesitating. I asked him what if I make the wrong decision? He wisely told me " then you make another decision; nothing is in stone unless we decide it is. I walked out of his office and turned in my 2 weeks notice. Best. Advise. Ever. You will do well in whatever you pursue in life. Best wishes.

I have a year and a half to go until my youngest is 18, at which point I was planning to start spending winters in Florida (I live in Michigan, brrrr). Van life channels like yours have really opened my eyes to possibilities I never would have thought about. Just bought a new tent and Jackery knock-off (Oupes 600wh, great reviews, only $350), along with a 100w solar panel. Plan to camp and explore Michigan as much as possible this summer (can't go far yet - my teen girls are too needy. Lol). Subscribed, and excited to see where life takes you! :)

Oh girl !! I had those stress hives myself , last summer- for as month ! I had camping plans at several camp spots for weeks but everywhere was on fire! Smoke so thick , everywhere, for 2-3 months. I- I was under pressure to make the decisions . Then housing skyrocketed and I had to find a room to rent from someone- not easy. Stress, every month, .im going to take out my back seats on my SUV and get it livable - if it comes down to it

I really hope your next rig allows you to live debt free. That’s the best part of living in a vehicle, it’s such a cheap way to live. Allows us to use your hard earned cash for better food and going farther on the road. So many people get carried away with an aesthetically pleasing interior that mimics a house interior and functions similarly to. That in my opinion is where the debt occurs for many. Keep it simple and live abundantly

Agreed! That is the goal for my next build - debt free, room for me and my pup, and a reliable engine to take us on our adventures :) everything else is extra!

@@SheRoamsWild I think that’s a natural conclusion when going into debt after starting a van living situation. My first van was financed with a partner for over 100k. Monthly payments were $500. Horrible decision looking back on it. I end up spending enough time in cities that a super incognito vehicle is best. I use a truck, it’s perfect

24 hour grocery stores are good to park at, pee bucket for emergencies & a gym membership to shower. Still trying to figure out the heat issue in the morning but other than that it's not too bad, I actually have money saved in my bank since sleeping in my kia soul

If you volunteer at a food bank, you can get some supplies without feeling like a charity case. There are always vegetables left over. You can find temporary work on Craigslist under the gigs section. Another option is being a caretaker, house sitter. So many people have extra homes, - sitter can keep them safe from vandalism.

For most people that have lived a conventional life and they lived in an apartment or had their own house it's really hard to go to living in a van and it's hard to keep up the momentum, everybody wants a real home where they can take a shower when they want watch TV eat good food prepare to home on a big stove with a big refrigerator

No hate here, this is meant to b constructive. If u want your channel to grow, please do away with conflicting thumbnails and confusing drama. A lot of us are wondering d logic of your decision. U sold a nice built out van only to plan on buying and building another one. If u place value on your time and stress d new build will entail, u would have been better keeping d old one. We r making conclusions based on d facts u shared. I guess its your life, you do what u feel is best for u. Going forward, i think we your viewers would like to watch drama free videos as we resort to you tube for entertainment, not for added stress… good luck and b well.

Yea.. I stopped watching after she cleaned the van and mentioned getting another, then popped up renting a low roof. I'm sure there is more to the story..The first van is very nice.. Guess she knows whats she doing. I can't wait to build out a rig.

Ah, fair assumptions! I will not be buying or building out another van though - hopefully another vehicle, but I cannot afford a high roof van like I had. This low roof is just to buy time to find something as I needed to leave on a work trip. My old van was far too costly for me to keep while running my business, so I will be "downgrading" into something more budget friendly.

She explained she sold her van in order to downsize the debt. She wants to buy her next simpler van for cash. It makes sense. This is the first video of hers I’m watching. I don’t usually watch many vanlifers because I want to escape the stress of my own van life😂. I post videos about other things, some that might actually be useful for those on a budget or looking for work ideas.
