Yes it was a wonderful space in a great position but you have to be in a great financial position to afford it. I had to laugh when the first owner said “All types of people live here - lawyers, bankers ….. Quite so. Where are the nurses, secretaries, mechanics, shop assistants?

Totally out of reach of most 'ordinary' people I suspect. Given my financial circumstances, it is just well that is my idea of hell! Totally soul less and sterile, I don't ever want to live with some interior decorator's bland choices.

It is beautiful but sterile and reminds me of my mom's nursing home. Your place is way more stunning and fits your youthful and bubbly personality and maybe find a wonderful person to rent out one room in your house to help pay for the upkeep of your home. I am about done with my home because I spend about 12 - 15 hours a week in the yard, hot Florida heat almost all year, and I have never really liked my house though I have been in it 16 years but I hope to never go to an old folks home even when I am much older. My mom stayed in her home till she was 82. I would clean and take care of her great big yard but she had to go into care for dementia cause she would wander and fall even though I was up with her almost 20 hours per day. Best of luck in whatever you choose, you are simply stunning and sweet.

Absolutely lovely but I'd miss my own garden to potter about in, and being able to hang out my washing instead of tumble drying everything ! And the storage inside wouldn't be enough for starters. Yes you can get rid of stuff but not everything accumulated over a lifetime can be chucked away. I downsized 8 years ago from a huge 6 bed roomed / 3 reception roomed detached to 2 bed semi with 5 rooms in total , and I love it ! I'd take that over an apartment in a block any day.

I have downsized in the last few months from a house with a huge garden with field views to a much smaller space with no garden but boy oh boy do I love it! Also I think you would fit in very well with those other very glamorous ladies 🙂👍🏻xx

I live in a retirement development of single family homes on smaller lots. It is smaller - 3200 homes - w/ 3 pools, pickle ball, tennis, golf, softball, library, ballroom and facilities for clubs and meetings. There is a grille on site. Still requires driving to shops, groceries, etc. a drawback that is common in US in that a car is necessary. I don’t like that aspect but the rest I really like. Probably not my last stop. I expect to downsize again. I like the facility you reviewed, particularly nearness to mass transport.

Looks amazing…but not as nice as the lovely home you have already in Brighton, right by the sea….….(and yes, I fully appreciate the hard work and costs of owing your home incurs…. 💖However, there does come a time when one will perhaps need to consider downsizing for many reasons as we age)which tbh, I find quite scary….but nonetheless, this is rather a nice luxurious place to live in London, especially if you are on your own….with some real nice benefits as well…..not somewhere I could afford to buy….but for those that can, this would be a nice place to down size to and call home💖Looking fab as always Suzie 😘

I can see the appeal of living in the city, one of the benefits would include living within a closer range to a major medical centre. I worked in health care, my mind goes there. But, your little house by the sea with the turquoise floors and the lovely garden with the pond, where you get visits by Socks the fox, is my absolute favourite! Hello Suzi. You're delightful & so enthusiastic whether you're at your favorite place or sharing a new adventure. This is a very nice retirement village. It is upscale in appearance & the women you spoke to seemed very content. I imagine a more diverse space with gardens (others upkeep lol) and characters meeting up. If only more choices were open to me. On the subject of you, I think I missed your decision to possibly move this year. What will the foxes do without you? Am sure your neighbors will miss you. I recall a place I think in Brighton you showed us from the outside & the architecture appealed to me. I can't imagine seeing you without Jack but all our precious fur babies eventually cross over the rainbow bridge. I don't like the option of having a pet not being available even if had no intention of a new one still the possibility is nice. Take care!! 💕

Please do not be fooled by retirement homes, flats etc. They are leasehold properties and you don't actually own the property. You are only leasing the space within the four walls. Service charges, ground rent go up and you have to renew the lease. Its a con! Please buy freehold everytime, at least what you have bought you own lock, stock and barrel!!

What a beautiful place and in London too!!! I live in The Villages Florida- the largest 55+ active community in the world. It’s made up of single family homes ranging from about $175,000 up to millions. I live in a 3bedroom 2 bath with an almost maintenance free yard. It feels like a resort villa. There are homes that are 1 bedroom 1 bath all the way up to million dollar properties with 5 acres for polo ponies! There are also luxury apartments available as well as independent, assisted and memory care and rehab facilities within the community - so one can age in place and still maintain same friends and golf cart accessible. Each Village has an adults only pool and then a rec center with a sports pool and then a rec center a family pool. We have amazing amenities- over 107 pools, over 711 holes of golf (most of the golf is FREE),the most number of pickleball courts in the world, soccer fields, over 3600 clubs and thousands of classes and activities each week. We have free live music and dancing nightly, 365 days per year, in 3 town squares and dozens of other venues. We have bowling alleys and billiards and dragon boat racing. We have our own fire departments and hospitals and dentist and shopping malls. To make sure we have the best people working her in The Villages we have three, soon to be four “family or support communities” homes for people that work in The Villages that have kids or not 55+ and have one of the best charter schools, early education, elementary and high school with over 3200 students. And we are building another support community including a town square and more charter schools. And we have our own Polo Fields with a polo academy!! All this is accessible via golf carts!! Hundreds of miles off walking and golf cart paths that take you to every service or fun you can need or want - the community is currently over 40 square miles and growing. There are about 130,000 people in our community- all of which are friendly and happy and looking to be social and active!! You should come visit !!

What do we reckon is a good age to move to a retirement apartment? My husband and I have it in mind to make our move when he's 75 (though I hate to do forward planning actually - it feels like tempting fate lol). A couple of friends of ours went when the chap was 70, the wife a bit younger and though they felt "too young" at first they soon settled in and have spent 15 happy years there now!

Given that a very modest retirement development in my very average town in the midlands charges the best part of £5,000 a year in service charges I dread to think what a place as luxurious as that in London costs. It's never the cost of buying the actual apartment that's the problem but the ongoing running costs for the rest of your days.
