I'm enrolled in Immersion 2023! | Taking the plunge 😅 | Bonnie Christine

I'm still kind of in shock that I actually clicked "Enroll" 😳. Join me on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster as I talk through some of the decision points that led me to say "yes" to Immersion 2023.
In case you aren't familiar, Immersion is Bonnie Christine's annual course in surface pattern design and creative entrepreneurship. It's kind of a ~big deal~ in the surface pattern design world, and so many success stories have come out of this course.
I was initially going to wait until Immersion 2024, but I ultimately decided that it was not worth it to put my dreams on hold while I wait until I feel "ready" (whatever that means).
It was a huge decision to sign up for this course and I did not take it lightly, but I am SO EXCITED now that I'm on the other side of that sales page 🤩

I really resonated with this video. I fell into surface patter design right before the pandemic. Through late light internet worm holes of surface patterns design I discovered Bonnie and her work. Once I found out about Immersion I really wanted to do it, but I couldn't even dream of affording it. This August my mother had a heart attack, and thankfully she came out on the other side of it. It was a miracle to say the least. That day really changed me, especially since my mom is a graphic designer. But it made me want to do more of what I love with the people I love more consistently. My mom always believed in me in my art and wacky Ideas. It is very hard since my day job supplies me with my income and my insurance. I also don't drive due to a health condition. But for the first time in a very long time, it is nice to have a silver cloud of optimism above my head. I decided to invest in myself this year and take the course. My fiancé is also very encouraging as well which helps. Thank you for such a sweet candid video

Lauren, thank you so much for sharing your heart here ❤ I'm so happy to hear that your mom is doing okay, but what a scary thing to go through (for both of you, I'm sure). I'm totally with you, though. Now that I've had a taste of the kind of deep joy that comes with doing something that truly lights you up, there's really no turning back. Plus, I really do think that we're all doing a disservice to the world when we don't follow our passions. When we're doing something we love, we're so much less likely to be operating from an empty cup. That means there's more to share with the world around us! At least, that's how I see it. Thank you for reaching out, and I can't wait to go on this journey with you 🥰

Congratulations! Follow your dreams. Always. I love your emotion. I just found Bonnie a few weeks ago and was going to wait until next year but something was calling me. I had tears listening to the alum share their experiences. Can’t wait to start and watch your progress too!

I was in the February workshop, but having just learned about surface pattern design, and other factors, I decided to wait. I got a lot out of the workshop and I’m forging ahead to see where it goes. Yes! Bonnie is amazing! I was a Immersion 2020 and worked for her cust service support in 2021 and 2022. I’m currently in her Flourish membership and it’s all been a wonderful experience. ❤️

I did it in 2021 and I find it sort of wasn’t worth it for me as a Aussie as all the info was American only based and I already knew heaps about pattern making. Money wise as well it was way more expensive being Aussie

That definitely makes sense. Have you been able to find resources that are more helpful for your needs since then? Erin Kendal is one of my fav Aussie designers, though I’m not sure how much of the info she shares is specific to Australia!
