'I'm finally free' Dame Kelly Holmes comes out as gay

Olympics legend Dame Kelly Holmes today breaks a 34-year silence to tell the world: “I’m gay.”
The sporting superstar turned to the Sunday Mirror to come out at the age of 52 - in Pride month.
Behind her beaming smile, Kelly has lived a “secret life” for decades.
And she admits: “There have been lots of dark times where I wished I could scream that I am gay - but I couldn’t.”

Sad that it’s taken her so long to come out as being gay, and to finally get over the demons that have tormented her for so long. Personally I think she should have done so after leaving the army. After reading her auto biography I did wander if she was gay , as there was no mention of relationships and a section about spending time with another athlete who I knew was openly gay. At the end of the day my perception of her hasn’t changed , she still one of my favourite athletes, and a lovely woman full stop. So glad she can finally be herself,but sad that it took her so long to come out

I totally support anyone finding their true path in life. However it's a bit depressing that someone's sexuality is still considered a 'thing' that some feel should be 'hidden'. On the other hand, I've read some comments here stating she is enslaved in sin. As long as there's nonsense like this floating around, maybe coming out still needs to be championed.
