Red rings let you move slightly faster at the cost of your health slowly draining by 1 every second, and notifying every exe/minion of your location. It's a rewarding take if you can buy your team more time, as the faster speed often makes the exes attacks more difficult to hit, but the trade off is only worth it if you're being chased. Just picking one up for no reason is in no way beneficial since it's not DC and the there's not 1,000 rings all in the way of where you want to be.
