If you haven't figured it out in order do the 360 you have to high pop and press and hold RT or LT which ever way you wanna go hope that helps

A couple years ago, I was super into XL and loved it way more than Session, but that was mostly because Session had too many bugs for me to even grind a ledge. Now it's genuinely hard for me to spend any time on unmodded XL lol, it just doesn't feel like skateboarding.

To dip smith/feeble grinds I do the input for a crooked grind but the opposite direction to the ledge depending on which side I wanna grind on. If you’re facing the ledge and you wanna do a smith, instead of doing a front crook do a back crook so the back truck lands into a smith. Not sure if this is the correct way to do it but I think I have a KZbin short of me doing it in vanilla with flips out of it.

The one thing that always draws me back to Skater XL is the controls. In Session, the turning is strictly using the triggers. Somehow in SkaterXL, you can turn with both triggers and the left stick. I preferred to use the left stick to make fine turn adjustments while on the ground, and use the triggers while in the air. Session does have its Legacy control mode, which is more like EA's Skate but it is still incredibly buggy. I actually got a refund for Session on Steam because I couldn't enjoy it in its early access state. I have never played SkaterXL with any mods so I don't have the experience other players have on PC. Yes, the game still needs many additions, and for $40 they should be churning out more updates. But the physics and controls of SkaterXL continue to beat Session for me.

Yeah, milky explained it really well. SXL controls are from a first person POV whereas session controls are from a third person POV. SXL feels so much more intuitive for that reason. Like fakie and switch controls are so dumb. Irl popping fakie kinda feels like popping regular and popping switch feels kinda like popping nollie so the controls should be the same like in SXL.

To 360 on flat you pop a 180 and revert while in the air and it turns a full 360. It's just a timing thing

Tip to make vanilla hardflips and inward heels look good: pop first, then smash your thumbsticks to each side, as is you were going for a board/lipslide. Found this out after continuously trying to boardslide up a rail and accidentally flipping the board lol.

i still play xl from time to time, and i just use the first XXL mod that came out after the 1.0 release of the game. i dont even know what the other versions of the mod are like or even change. the first version still makes the game enjoyable for me to play. I just wish easy day would just give us the damn mod in the game so console players can enjoy a refined experience and then we dont have to mod the game. sad that the devs wont even fix their own game

It’s cuz you didn’t change ur stat settings under stance. The blader xl has all custom riding stance. Have to go through every stance and trick under the advanced options and reset them lmao it’s a pain.

I thought about the comparison between skate games and OS like mac and windows and - in my opninion - skater xl is entirely mac and session is windows. I think this because on mac you can do everything you would want to do on PC but it would be really difficult and windows customization is just really simple, skater xl is easy to use hard to customize and session has more things to set in the first place but its more easy. On the price comparison it checks out too. anyway thought it was funny

At 13:55, you said that the vanilla hardflips weren’t as good as session’s, but dude, in skater xl, you can style every single trick the way you want by simply holding the triggers a certain way. (For example for a hardflip, it will look way better if you hold your sticks down right after you flipped the trick, in my opinion) and you can do it with any possible trick in the game.

You can even underrotate the board, turn your feet, and catch it sideways to turn it back to normal. You create your own animation in real time. It's one of the biggest benefits of SXL vs Session imo
