What I've often noticed when watching GPs BCD is how genial the reception staff seem to be. My experience over 20 years with one GP practice was way different. The reception team were the most miserable bunch ever, apart from one who was lovely. Whether dealing with them over the phone or face to face it was like being grilled by the gestapo. The doctors were brilliant in comparison. Thankfully the practice I'm with now is top rate, both reception team and doctors. What I found staggering was the fact that between 6 doctors they have a patient list of 18,000! Okay, they're not seeing all the patients all the time,( I rarely need to see a doctor, my medical care is primarily provided by my hospital), but even so it's a huge number of people for one small GP service. Little wonder you generally get only 10 minutes per appointment.

In my experience, when my mother's doctor required a chaperone in examining intimate parts of my mother (outside of my view, of course), it was always one of the receptionists, all of whom were female, who were required to view the examination closely for any impropriety. Surely, this should be outside the bounds of the role of a receptionist. In these instances, my mother found this very upsetting. And, in the case of this man shown here, he clearly found it acceptable that a female doctor plus a female receptionist should attend to him; however, I question how many other men would be so accommodating in that situation? Receptionists have a questionable role nowadays in determining what is your health concern, and I would make it a stipulation that I see a male doctor given the circumstances. As to whether a male doctor would be on hand to attend as chaperone, does no-one know how much under pressure all doctors are in managing the 10-minute slot for each patient?

Takes a week for them to get the results back from an ultrasound why does it take so long in the US it be about one day to three days at the absolute most?

I always get my ultrasound results straight away. Maybe if they need a specialist to look at it then it will take some time.
@dannyireland18083 жыл бұрын
Generally for any type of imaging, X-rays, CT scans, MRI and ultrasound they may need to be reported by a radiologist, a doctor that specialises in looking at X-rays and scans. Here in the UK there is a shortage of these doctors, hence why there is a longer wait.
@trentgay34373 жыл бұрын
@@dannyireland1808 it's actually not that different from the US. They just schedule you right away usually for two or three weeks out. My doctor will call to give you the update before the visit. I heard back a week after my last x-ray to move up appointment.

I believe it’s because there’s no open wounds. Gloves are a breeding ground for bacteria so the safer practice is just to sanitise in between visits. Hope it helps!

It depends on what they are touching. If it is an open wound or a potentially contagious rash they would. No reason to wear gloves to touch a bruise.
