Great video. Good job on the intro. Very little Singaporean is using below size 10 due to the wind we have in Singapore. There is no right no wrong on using bigger tenya. As our geography, Singapore tends to have more windy days. We only have a few days in a month which is less windy. I do agree on the angle of tenya. But it’s our style of tenya fishing. Cheers

Too be honest..best not to fish..if really want try fishing at tuas area..not the southern island.. You can see currently boat trip at tuas area have good result compare to the southern island side..if really want to fish..you can try inshore fishing like shore jigging or ajing.. Hopr that helps

Good information bro. Thank you for sharing. May I ask you a question? Can tenya fishing use for night fishing?
@xdjason3 жыл бұрын
Well..tenya is also another type of bottom fishing..so it should work..but you must also take into consideration of the area you are at..the depths and current..

Should the drag must be tight 3/4 ? Or it must be light cause bottom fish takes the tenya under a rock? During the fight
@xdjason6 ай бұрын
The drag must be set to your comfortable level..where you are able to set the fish without losing drag..merry Christmas

Boss, i've once received an advise from a boat captain, saying that tenya needs current to play as it needs to be angled around 45degrees from ur rod tip. as this will make the prawn look up instead of facing down, making it look more like a live prawn. Can advise if tenya drop straight down and jig around "hit zone" or let it go on a 45 degree tilt and jig from rod tip?
@xdjason3 жыл бұрын
Hi there..usually i will drop straight down to the hit zone..once it drift till more then 45 degrees..i will reel up and drop again..
@alvinwibawa76373 жыл бұрын
@@xdjason so its best to let the prawn sit on a 90 degree angle from ur main line and just jig around the hit zone?
@xdjason3 жыл бұрын
Which brand of tenya are you using.. I will drop the tenya till it touches the ground and lift it up..will repeat the action a few times at the hit zone..

I fish in 40 to 60 metres depth [Northern Queensland, Australia] and often there is significant current. Minimum lead sinker is 8 oz. With an 8 oz sinker, I rarely fish directly below the boat when anchored. Can I still use a tenya rig? If so, I need heavier Tenya but you say that will not work.
@xdjason3 жыл бұрын
Hi bro, 8 oz of lead sinker is it 225gm??

From what i know, Brand like daiwa, shimano and palms they only have tenya size max out at 15-18. Equivalent to 60gm-72gm, I’ve try using size 10 (40gm) at 50meters depth and it will touch the ground and able to land decent size of fish. The setup I’m using is shimano engetsu xtune limited pair with daiwa exist 3000, loaded with PE 0.8 line, leader 20lb. The heavier your line poundage, the harder to feel the tenya. Would you mind to share what set up you are using. If you really need to use such heavy tenya, i would suggest you to try madai or inchicku, as they have heavier sizes. Looking forward to your reply

@@xdjason Thank you for your reply. I have purchased tenya 200 gm from E-waves Fish Byte from Singapore and used them on my recent trip to the reef last week without success. Fished in 40-50 m and target fish was saddletail snapper [large mouth nannygai]. Boat anchored, current reasonable - tenya did not stay on bottom for long - too light [kite flying]. Used both Accurate Boss Extreme 500 [50 lb braid] and Daiwa Seaborg 750 electric [PE6, 80 lb braid]. Rods, reels and lines were all too heavy for tenya [watched all available tenya stuff on youtube - mostly Singaporeans]. Switched back to apollo rig and started to land the nannygais. Will be fishing again in two days time and give tenya another try. I really think a drifting boat is my best bet for success.

Bro..ur setup is super heavy..try using something lighter..im sure u will land one with lighter tenya..200gm tenya is just like dead weight,why spent extra where u can just use lead weight

mok swee biow hi there, well its really depends on whose boat you are out with.. Proper tenya should range from size 4 [16gm- size 12 [ 48gm ] Im using size 6-8.. Anything heavier might as well use sinker as its a cheaper option

mok swee biow always ask your boatman if it’s suitable for tenya fishing. Usually when we go tenya fishing, we choose a softer current that is suitable for it.
