Let’s see if we can keep this Pakistan mulberry happy in a container. These trees grow into titans so it’ll be interesting to see if their size can be managed and kept compact.

You explained about the root flare very well. There aren't that many people that talk about this and how many box store plants are planted too deep. Thanks for a very informative video!

That's a very nice boy you got. I am also a fellow parent of a pakistani mulberry I bought it already at a decent size about 2 1/2 years ago and just left it in it's original pot it was a regular 15 gallon and honestly I just watered it appreciate it gave me fruit twice already now going for its 3rd round and I didint up pot it till this week. I am using a 24 gallon square wooden box for it and I can see it really likes it... good luck with your tree truly fruitful and beautiful plants

Thank you for this video! I have been wanting a mulberry tree but I was afraid of it as well. I am going to try and grow it in a pot as well.

I heard these mullberries do good with our native soil here in phx

They do! An in ground mulberry can get massive and they take off so fast ☺️ they definitely serve as fantastic shade trees for other more sun sensitive trees!

So my family is from Pakistan originally, and I've tried the fruit, it's damn delicious and sweet. I mean you can't get enough. I remember seeing them in different colors on one of my visits to the local Pakistani grocery store here in Toronto (massive Pakistani community here). I also recently bought a Turkish mulberry jam from a local Turkish store, very delicious as well. Hope your tree dishes out sweet fruit as well :)

Thank you so much! Seeing mulberries for sale sounds like a dream.Here, it seems you cannot find them unless you grow them yourself. Mulberry jam sounds absolutely scrumptious! When these produce, I’ll have to try and make some😊

@@DiariesofaPlantGirl :) yes luckily we are able to purchase produce exported from Pakistan at most of the community stores. Summer is chaotic as these stores are packed with the infamous Pakistani mangoes. It's insane. You should visit Toronto :)

Where do you get your pots with the handles, or what brand are they? All the larger pots I get for trees like my figs always break when I lift them. Thanks!

Look into activated horticulture charcoal for some nice benefits like having a hotel for soil microbes to multiply. Make sure it is activated or it will cause troubles to the plants

I had no clue about that nursery till I took a trip to the Arizona Worm Farm! It was AMAZING!!! My friend was soooo excited because there were trees native to his home country that he couldn't find anywhere else. Would it be beneficial to pot the plant in a grow bag so it does the air pruning for the roots?
@DiariesofaPlantGirl2 жыл бұрын
Isn’t it?!! I could spend hours there just looking at all the beautiful tropicals they carry! I wanted every single tree haha Truthfully, I’m not the biggest advocate for grow bags when it comes to trees in the low desert of AZ. When I first start planting trees, I used 30 gallon grow bags bc they’re cost effective and the air pruning sounded like a huge plus. The trees did well during the cooler months but as soon as it started heating up, they dried too fast. our climate is very dry, hot and windy which was a con when trying to use grow bags because they’re so breathable. When I transplanted my trees, the roots had embedded themselves into the fabric and about 4-5 inches from every edge of the grow bags were bone dry. Maybe if they were placed in a shallow bin to wick up water they might hold moisture better but i much prefer the plastic pots over grow bags. Perhaps they would work well in a more humid& wet climate where they won’t dry out as fast!

@@DiariesofaPlantGirl the nursery was AMAZING! Thank you for that information! My sister-in-law has been watching a KZbin not living here that praises them up and down, but I also thought that they weren't suited for our climate. Thank you so much for your feedback on them! I'm going to put my dwarf peach tree in a large plastic planter.

I’m just curious what size Is the pot the big black one that you’re working with where you’re planting your Mulberry also, where can I get the black containers like that those are perfect if I may ask💚
@DiariesofaPlantGirl Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! The biggest containers are 25 gallons and I buy them online from Greenhouse Megastore ☺️ they sell them in packs of 5 and I love them! They hold a lot of soil and have held up perfectly to this intense AZ sun for a few years now. I highly recommend them!

How much water do you plan to water the mulberry tree in summer time when it’s around 100-120 degrees? I’m in Vegas & currently have a 8’ Pakistan Mulberry tree in 20 gallon as well. Trying to figure out how many 6” spaced emitter I should put in… During summer Our irritation will go off daily (except Sunday) for 30 min at a time, 3x a day. Of course, right now in April, it’s only every other day, 20 min at a time, 2x a day. Thx in advance.
@DiariesofaPlantGirl2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure how much I’ll wind up watering it then but as of right now I’m watering 60 minutes 3 times a week and it seems to be doing great! Once the temps go above 100 degrees I might water it every day for 45-60 min depending on how quickly the containers dry out and how the leaves look. I’ll make sure to include it in a video once I figure it out ☺️

How big is your pot? I was told by nurseries that this Pakistan white mulberry is not suitable for container growing...I just bought some cuttings of this vairety, and rooting them now. Hopefully they will take root. If you demonstrate that it can be grown in pot, I;d like to try that as well, for I do not have enough room in my yard for this one. Maybe heavy pruning can keep the size small.
@DiariesofaPlantGirl2 жыл бұрын
The pot is 25 gallons and I’ve heard the same thing which is why I wanted to test it out as well. Hopefully pruning will help keep it small and compact! I’ll keep updating its progress in future vlogs and we’ll see how it performs this year and hopefully next year it’ll fruit. I’m wishing you the best of luck on your cuttings!

@@DiariesofaPlantGirl Thanks...I'll keep an eye on your progress and hope it will be OK in a 25 gal container. Subbed.
