I'M IN HOT WATER!!

SOLAR POOL HEATERS SUCK!! USING A LARGE FIRE TO HEAT THE POOL WITH AN OLD RADIATOR AND EXTRA POOL PUMP, CRANKING OUT SERIOUS HIGH FLOW HOT WATER.....

So did this hold up? I am thinking about using a cast iron radiator laying flat with a 55 gal drum wrapped around it to contain heat and use oil burning rocket stoves under it to make heat..

I'm looking into doing the same thing more or less ... how long did your radiator last? is it still working? doesn't it sooth up with carbon and other muck from the fire? Do the plastic parts to the side not melt?

Hot water floats so its better to inject the water at the bottom of the pool

Best method I've seen so far. More efficient than using just copper coils around the drum. I've got another idea. What about filling the drum with water. Seal it. Attach inlet pipe at the bottom and outlet pipe at the top. Light a fire under the drum so that it heats up the water inside the drum, like a pan on a stove. In this way it's more efficient (less fuel required). The only problem is the drum. Will the fire damage the drum long term? What about using a tall cooking pan. Much smaller but more efficient.

Problem with that is it take so long to heat up that amount of water, just to cool it off by pushing 50% cold water into it. This method has a continuous flow

I'm getting rust out of my radiator. How can I fix this?

Try an old car that's not road worthy. use the cooling system of the car to heat the pool water so instead of the car outputting the hot water to a radiator it outputs to your pool. Saw this on facebook.
