It is, I totally agree. But honestly I'm wondering if it isn't a perspective based analogy. For instance, there are a lot of people at the pond and most people aren't catching anything so he is going to a different pond. He said he will go to a new pond because he loves fishing... I say I'll stay by the crowded pond because there are just as many fish in it, its just that there are too many people fishing it because they love to fish. That's why few fish are biting. With new and better lures, the big fish will come up from the deep. Jonah... he became the lure. He didn't love to fish, he got in the water AS THE LURE, and caught the biggest one ever and ended up fulfilling his purpose. Stay strong my friend...

I think, what I would be getting at would be that if I myself become what attracts the fish, and go into the water where the fish are at, there are no lines to entangle me. My thoughts are that modern Christianity is trying to use old formulas to solve a new problem and that is why they still cast lines in the first place. I don’t claim to have this thing figured out but I will say this much, when we dedicate our lives to creating worship space for Jesus we cannot go wrong... until we do. ;)

Very few American preachers are actually preaching from the Bible and serving as a disciple. I'm sad Francis will not be preaching here and recording his teachings because they have helped me so much considering there are no more real Bible teaching pastors. However, nothing could support his honesty and true discipleship more than ACTUALLY leaving the US and proclaiming the gospel to the unreached. I'm inspired and grateful. Thank you brother Chan for running this race with truth. I pray to do the same!

Robert Kadlecik Forgiveness means that all were at some point guilty; but forgiveness from God through Christ is complete. So I'm wondering what purpose "hell" serves? I know most Christians will say we need to go to Christ and "recieve' the gift of forgiveness; while the Bible verse says: "While we were yet sinners; Christ died for us." And of course we were ALL in a sense; since; (and before); 'Grandfathered-in'.

Oh I am in awe with this raw message . "If your own thoughts contradict the word of God. Then you need to get under the word of God." That part was for me. For many years I doubted my salvation because I don't "feel" saved. Wow I just see it is *not* about my feelings, it is not about me or my understanding it Jesus Christ who does it, has done it, Jesus Christ saved me, not my feelings. Wow. Andrea Y I do.. just gotta trust in God and pray for wisdom, He will give it to us! At least you know that your winning and want to change, some people don’t even care. I got friends and family that think I’m crazy 😝 because I have faith and trust in Jesus. What matters is our salvation and to me that’s more important than trying to prove a point or making friends. It also helps when you have support and people that want to know more about Jesus! I didn’t start reading the Bible till about last year... He has opened my eyes to a lot like- Christmas how everyone thinks he was born on Christmas, he wasn’t. No where does it say he was born on Christmas- it’s a pagan holiday and other holidays at that. We stop celebrating holiday after learning the meaning and the back story every holiday, it’s suck how much the devil is deceiving. He also opened my eyes about people going to the moon... how is the possible when God created two great lights and put them in the heavens that shine down upon the earth... the sun and moon is in the firmament above us which is heaven. NASA lies we never went to the moon. That’s in genesis I believe that was the fourth day. These are just the beginning of what He has shown me. I’m blessed and have token it all in... it wasn’t easy knowing I’ve been lied to and that I’m 33 and just now finding the truth... or even how “they” say we live on a spinning world... about how it’s that possible when God put the earth on the foundation and shall not be moved... He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved. Psalm 104:5 It’s crazy what you see and what he shows you!

After you walk with the Lord for so long and you do as much speaking to the American church you get tired of talking. There is nothing better than to live as a missionary. If you seek the ministry after a while you will get tired of talking, the call of a life on fire for God will end up being a call for the mission field. God bless you Chan. Please the Father. So awesome! As a testimony and encouragement to anyone thinking of going into missions... Our family felt this exact same call 4 years ago. We actually were overwhelmed by a lot of francis' messages and felt that feeling of "what are we even doing?" my husband and I cried out to the lord for direction and within a month we and our 3 young kids were on a plane to Kona Hawaii to do our YWAM DTS. We literally had no money, sold pretty much all our stuff and God provided in crazy miraculous ways. For our dts outreach we went to Thailand and Laos and our hearts and minds were completely changed. Just like what Francis said... There is a huuuge pond over here and hardly anyone is fishing! After dts we felt a strong call back to southeast Asia and we've lived here for 3 years now. It's been hard and there have been many challenges I didn't expect. But it is absolutely worth it to follow the call of God on your life. Ask him if he wants something new for you and be brave to step out in radical faith if he answers that call!

Debbie Douglas well actually it was the Catholic Church that most impeded the translation of the Bible into English. Lots of Christians were murdered for trying to get the Bible into the hands of the common folk. You are right though about the councils determining canon of scripture and whatnot. The fact is that the Catholic Church is an amalgamation of various pagan religions and Christianity, hence all the traditions that are not even in the Bible. Also there are several scriptures about Gods word being foundational. Without God’s word we never would have been freed from the corruption of the Catholic Church. The Bible revealed and exposed the practices that were contrary to Gods will. Without the Bible In a language we could read we would have to take the word of the priest. The Bible says that there is no mediator between us and God except Jesus himself.

Look into the early Church fathers as Chan obviously has and you'll see Evangelical Protestantism looks nothing like early Christianity. I've been blessed watching you; it's been such a delight to see a pastor with an appearance of simplicity/humility; not robed in the finest suit and shoes to the point of becoming too stiff to bend or relax. I give thanks to my Father which is in heaven, for Pastor Chan & his family, and their obedience, who are not afraid to teach the true Word of God, as many Pastors in big & small churches are! May the Lord bless him & his family on their new journey! Sadly, many Pastor's sugar coat the gospel, so not to offend, but don't seem to mind if our Lord is offended!😢 The Word is sharper than a two edged sword for a reason, to cut to the marrow! Many Pastors have sold out, fearful, not trusting the Lord's provision, selling out to the 501c3 which is not from the Lord, which is the enemies way of entering the church to control and restrict what is allowed to be preached from the pulpit! @tony The challenge that I have with your thinking is that you appear to think that I'm saying we don't have to keep the Sabbath? That's not what I'm saying at all. It's also not what scripture is saying either. Biblical scripture is saying rather, that by welcoming the tangible presence of YHWH (Jesus), our body, soul and spirit are indeed keeping the Sabbath because we are dwelling in His supernatural rest in spirit and in truth. * Have you ever encountered the tangible holy presence of the Holy Spirit? * Have you experienced even the initial glimpses of His presence when you're reading His word and you suddenly fall asleep? The tangible presence of Jesus is peace, because He is the Prince of Peace. This world is fallen and wearying on our physical bodies. Sometimes our flesh is desperate for rest and we can not find it. HE IS LITERALLY OUR REST. It is His very presence that we must intentionally hunger and welcome on a daily bases (Ps 100:1-5). His very presence is our DAILY bread, the manna from Heaven (Rev 3:20). YHWH is an emminating being whose qualities of love, holiness, glory healing light, etc radiate from. Consider the 10 Commandments. In the shadow of the Old Testament they were as written. But in the New Testament Jesus spiritually amplified their application to a Heavenly standard that was ONLY achievable by faith in Him (literally). Circumcision was declared by YHWH to be an everlasting covenant to the Jew. However in the New Testament it's implications were amplified to a spiritual application. In doing so, it doesn't void the original command, but rather the command is fulfilled by faith to the spiritual heavenly standard.

His teaching is straight-forward and not easily accepted by many believers. As a teenager in the 80s the pastor who led the church i attended was similar to francis. I’ve never heard a sermon or message from Francis Chan that didn’t move me to my core. Every single time he talks from a pulpit/podium my eyes are opened, my flesh is humbled and my heart lurches in the right direction towards Jesus. He is the real deal, a true man of God. The way he loves and fears our Father emanates from his being in an honest, genuine way. It is something we should all aspire to feel as well. I will miss seeing him speak but God’s will is well above mine and I’m happy for him, his family and the people of Asia who will all benefit richly from God’s work in this move. In Chan-style humility, he apparently did not notify anyone in any media outlet about their missionary plans! All we have is that here, Chan briefly mentioned his plans, and then went on with the sermon. I can't find anything about this online! I did searches. I went to various Christian websites. I grew up loving fishing, God has blessed me so much through fishing. Like I've caught fish i shouldn't have multiple times but when I got older my dad took me to Canada to explain adolescence to me and the fishing was amazing, but when we came back to Wisconsin it was never the same. The first two minutes of this gave me the chills. You don't even know.
