Yes!!! But in a good way! I was just mentioning in another comment I left for her, that it reminds me of when Bunny, would do her “Does This Thing Really Work?” series, but with craft kits. I love her honesty about them too! Cause some of these craft companies are fully out of pocket in assuming the use ability of some of their crafting kits, and the supplies given!

I love these videos where you do kids craft kits because I LOVED those growing up and I remember how some of them were so frustrating and I feel so validated when I watch adult you struggle the same way I know kid (and adult) me would've struggled with the same craft kit. And I used to love looking at all the kits but my parents usually wouldn't buy them for me so I feel like I'm getting to live my childhood craft store dreams vicariously through you LOL

I reviewed the paper circle bowl kit on my channel back in 2020, during the pandemic lockdown. I used a process of putting glue on only one side of the circles and applying them to the bowl, then putting glue over them when I had all the circles on the bowl. I had trouble with the circles moving when I put on the glue while they were on the bowl, but I was able to counteract that by applying the glue in a dabbing motion to one circle at a time. I let the bowl dry for 24 hours and it worked just fine--you do NOT need to let it dry for 5 days. I also recommend having baby wipes handy when you do this kit so that you can wipe off your hands periodically. I enjoyed seeing somebody else do the kit and have a different experience than I had. Good video!

Reminds me of Threadbanger. They tried making all those crafts you see on the internet that look so great but don't actually work in real life. They attempted to make so many bowls lol. The most ridiculous was the sand bowl. Or maybe the button bowl. If that channel taught me anything, it's that diy bowls rarely ever work. They either fall apart or end up floppy and useless.

You know what you could do to make the thread bowls harder? You could dip the string in a mod podge type solution before you swirl it around on the mold and then that way when it dries hopefully it'll dry a little harder because the thread will have been soaked through with the mod podge.

I wondered if soaking would help with the paper. It might be cute to tape the bowls inside each other like you have them stacked and hang them on the wall like a flower? But my biggest concern is who tests these crap kits? We pay a lot of money to trust they'll be pretty cool. And 9 times out of 10, they are NOT. 😔 Oh and I truly appreciate your videos. If you do a bigger bowl with wrapped string, get a bigger thread. Maybe yarn or rope. And if you add more layers of glue and let it sit for many days the bowls will firm up.

I seriously love your videos Rose, you make me want to go start on my stack of craft kits I’ve gotten over the years. At the 99 Cent store, they have a bunch of Easter basket goodies, and lots of cheap little craft kits and games for kids. My husband and I found this resin Pug statue that comes with paints and a brush, so you can paint your own pug 😂 we have a pet pug, so he bought it for me. It was only $3.99, it’s about 4-5 inches tall. But only came with red, blue and yellow paints. So I’m gonna use my own paint on it. I wish I could share a picture of it!

I think you have a great deal of patience to work with these kits!! 🤗😍 Both sets of bowls would be sturdier with a layer or two of glue inside - especially the thread ones. Sanding might help with the bubbles on the paper bowls, I mean, it works on ancient paint... Great idea to soak the circles in water and wiggle them around first. I wonder how strips of card stock would work paper machete style? They may have been easier with sturdier forms? I loved your speed reading!! 😂

You probably have a bunch of craft kits still, but if you want to try something new Miniverse has a lifestyle series where you build you miniatures using resin. They are pretty simple and I think you could get creative with them. Maybe something relaxing to do after these frustrating kits. The question about Craft Tastic and Craft Crush, but both being Play Monster, it’s probably similar to Michael’s and formerly Aaron Brothers, craft lines like Freestyle and Artist Loft. One is for kids and one is more adult friendly. Just an assumption, as the paper bowl kit looks more like it’s targeted to kids, and the thread bowl looks like an adult version of a similar craft.

I wonder if you had an easier time, had you soaked the paper circles in water for a few minutes first, to soften them. Kinda like when you work with leather and need to mold it to a certain shape, so you soak the leather for a while first. But idk how much help that’d be, as the glue might not adhere to a wet surface. Probably just not the right kind of paper for the project. I wonder if fabric would work better?

@@RoseRequinCrafts oooohhhhh awesome!!!! PLEASE don't do it if you don't have the time though. I heard you say in this video that you have small children (I'm new to your channel but have been binge watching), and I know how busy life can be with kids. So don't go out of your way to make the video if you don't want to. It was just a suggestion. I'll keep watching and liking no matter what 🥰🥰

I forgot to say something, and my brain wouldn't let me just leave it alone 😂 The bowls in the video have to dry for 5 days?!?!??!!? If I did that at my house, by the end of 5 days the bowls would be nothing but cat hair 😂😂 Who am I kidding? They would immediately have cat hair on them 😂

I actually don't have kids of my own. I'm a preschool teacher so I just have everyone else's, lol.

It's hard to tell in the video, but it almost looks like the thick paper/cardboard discs they included with the paper bowl are kinda shiny? Like a glossy magazine paper almost. And I cannot for the life of me figure out why the craft kit creators went with super thick and stiff paper that ALSO appears to have a semi-impermeable coating. What a waste. I feel like construction paper and mod podge would be easier to work with lol

The best way I could describe it is like they punched circles out of a kleenex box. It was that thickness and that sort of semi-glossy.

@@RoseRequinCrafts Eugh! That sounds decidedly unpleasant to try a smoosh on to a rounded surface 😟 They don't put a lot of care in to their craft kits, do they?

Hmm. As with many craft kits, the idea is fine, but the execution could use a little... tweaking

Also it clearly said that there wasn't supposed to be used to put food but yet they still put food in these bowls it is not good plus they are not food safe items

Of course you know there are WAAAYYYYYY easier to make these things. tissue paper and wall paper glue will make you a washable anything, bowl, mask, monster box, monster. You are right to throw it all. What a waste. Same for the thread...

Ive never heard of or thought of wallpaper glue, of course I understand why it exists but it's never crossed my mind! How would you recommend you do something like this? :)

@@MackenzieNerdyEMT Hi - the problem with the kits is the thick paper and the unknown glue. Wall paper paste is a very heavy paste that you can hand mix and it takes very little powder to water because you're not hanging wall paper. You should use thin paper like an old phone book if you can get on or tissue paper or napkins. You can either make a pulp by soaking the paper in water and molding it on a bowl or paper box or plastic box or else layer it by putting glue on the mold and not on the paper. Then layer it. All those cracks and open spaces can easily be flattened. Sometimes I put a tiny bit oil on the mold and the mold can be anything such as a mushroom box, aluminum tray, anything where you can cut or rip off the mold. If you make a pulp you can mold it and then layer paper over it. I made many many things this way.
