One thing a love about Alexa is how modest she is. When she talks about not quitting her day job, and how she would not be able to support herself as a full time writer. That may be true for 99% of writers. But soon I can see her being able to do this full time. And cook thing is how i been watching her since the beginning.

I didn't realize you'd lost your mom--I'm so, so sorry. In my experience, the first year is the hardest. Every day is the first, for example, 'March 29th' that you have without them. And the absolutely healthy response of grief to such an extreme loss is still treated so often by society as if it's something to get over and get over quickly. But it isn't. Part of it lives with you forever. Biggest hugs. Your mother must have been so incredibly proud of you.

I’m a worse version of myself post a big loss too. I find myself wondering how to get back to my old self but I don’t think it’s possible. Maybe that’s okay.

Really happy f or you. I haven't actually read your books but I have been absorbing your videos here as I want to start writing my first novel as well. I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost my mom late 2021 suddenly as well and grief is hard. It changes you more than you realize and it makes things so much harder. So it's great that your life is getting back on track. Social Media is like quicksand and getting out of it is a good thing (even though I love your videos).

I just started getting back into social media after a several-year break. It is, different, to put it lightly. Trying to take your previous advice and it feels hard now. And I am similar to you, I was an early adopter and runner on social media, all in all the break helped me. I look forward to more videos, even if they are shorter so you don't stress over the extra work, at the minimum an update to the award.

I'm in the bridge years for social media. Like I had it in my early 20's with FB, and late high school had the online diary thing, and of course MySpace was my college years. I get to detox a lot. I also hate paperwork. My sister posted a thing when she decided to leave her ex husband it said. "Are you a glass half empty or half full person? I'm here to tell you it doesn't matter. Sometimes you have to put the glass down to make life better." Don't feel bad for putting the glass down. Have fun in NYC, and please be careful. I miss my city but I moved for a reason.

I've been only on IG for 6 years. And I only use it to view art galleries. KZbin, I don't count b/c I view it as what TV used to be. : ) Your mom died before pandemic? Maybe you posted bout this before....haven't seen you in my feed for a year, I think. Me too. At first I thought it was good to have the pandemic year immediately after, but then...it made for some weird grief. Mebbe. : ) I am still going through boxes. Solution! Vlog only inside the hotel, inside your room (like thoughts before the event, thoughts after) when everything is fresh on your mind. Maybe a day of sightseeing, etc. But don't vlog THE main events, like you going to the theatre or the actual awards night. That could be a good way to vlog but remain present when it counts. Either way: Congrats!

Congratulations! I do so much better without social media although I know as a new writer with one book and working on the rest of the series it's important to promote. I have been off FB for @ 4 yrs and I'm so much happier. I struggle with Instagram as it's really a platform that needs daily content. I'm in the midst of a move but next month plan on rebranding etc and getting it together. I would love to attend Boucheron but it's a long haul from Europe. When I lived in New England I loved all the events offered such as Crime Bake and the local chapters of Sisters in Crime. If you don't want to Vlog the awards updates just take some photos and post them on your socials. Again, congrats.
