We have definitely evolved as a people. When James Brown and Sammy Davis voted for Nixon, some of our parents (I am 65.) attended their concerts just to booo. Most didn't and they continued to have thriving careers. Ben Vereen was canceled for performing at Reagan's inauguration; Ray Charles and Donna Summer weren't.
