To each their own but I'm not sure if we've seen the same movies. Fred&Ginger are in a place of their own and I don't recall him not looking at Ginger like he deeply adored her. It's okay if people have different tastes but in the 10 movies I have, they seem pretty much over the moon, "I'll be hard to handle" comes to mind as one example. But that's just my experience and I enjoy it. Everybody can enjoy what they prefer and like. 😊

From what I've read Mrs. Astaire was often present on set of the "Fred and Ginger' films... However... as adorable Fred was with Ginger... (they were wonderful together)...if I were the Mrs.... ...Rita...was the one who Fred seemed really taken with...of course he's acting...however it was well known in that she was his favorite dance partner.....:)

What’s do great about this number is so much of it is in the ballroom partner dancing style. Of course, the chemistry between the two of them is amazing as is the dancing itself. I love watching Rita and Fred dance together.

I am sorry to say this, but most people know Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire go together like hand and glove, but watching Rita Hayworth, with Fred Astaire, I do believe Rita was more smoother in her dancing that Ginger. Rita had more passion in her steps; she seems to feel the music more. The music became a part of her, it was her. Ginger seems to know the routine, the steps, the turns, but seems to lack the passion, that Rita had. Rita's movements are more sensual, you just want to watch her move, her sways, her turns, what she does with her hands and arms, movement of her hips; priceless!

She was dancing from age five. Performed in casinos with her f as milt to beautiful spanish music. Music and dance go hand in hand like breathing and heart beating in rhythm. We are enchanted mesmerised by her ethereal movements. The streeptease in Gilda and her first hair swinging are still breathtaking for viewers. Art for art's sake! We can only sigh! Gone are those rare species of mankind like Rita and Astaire. Hope they will be dancing in the clouds happily!

Ginger lacked the passion? You've obviously not seen "Lets face the music and dance" the final dance in "Follow the Fleet" or "Never gonna dance" from "Swing Time". Ginger actually "acts" the dances with Fred and doesn't dance with a "fixed smile". ps I love Rita as well.

Much as I love this--and I have for a very long time, it's the first Fred Astaire movie I ever watched--the opening verse has a serious problem. Rita isn't singing it, she's being dubbed--but it's still her face, her body, and she would have been adored by local lads. She was adored by very large percentage of lads on the planet, and definitely a whole lot of lads serving in WWII. But that's quibbling. They start dancing, and it ceases to matter.

For me, the 1st act of that was all about interpreting their definite chemistry, read through the peaks and troughs of their respective eyebrows. You'd have to be blind not to notice how much he was reveling in it. That wasn't acting. Instead, that was the real deal. And for the dancing, it's maybe grudgingly sad to suggest their partnership ended too soon. But if they only made the two movies, some eighty years down the line, we're still pouring over them. What's more, enjoying their combined talents, from start to finish. To the class of 87, when they both bowed out of the mortsl coil, I raise a glass. Maybe even a Margharita, for that would be fitting... wouldn't it?

Fred did not want to be yoked to a lady in the public mind- not after 35 years with Adele and Ginger. He had vowed not to work more than twice in movies with the same woman, so it was a compliment to those who did get two turns: Rita, Cyd and Vera-Ellen. And after he migrated to TV, Barrie Chase was his only regular partner for 10 years.

I am not such a clever one about the latest fads I admit I was never one adored by local lads Not that I ever tried to be a saint I’m the type that they classify as quaint I’m old fashioned, I love the moonlight I love the old fashioned things The sound of rain upon a window pane The starry song that April sings This years fancies are passing fancies But sighing sighs, holding hands These my heart understands I’m old fashioned but I don’t mind it That’s how I want to be As long as you agree To stay old fashioned with me. I’m old fashioned but I don’t mind it That’s how I want to be As long as you agree To stay old fashioned with me./ Я не такая уж умная в отношении последних причуд Я признаю, что никогда не был одним из тех, кого обожали местные парни Не то чтобы я когда-либо пытался быть святым Я отношусь к тому типу людей, которых они классифицируют как странных Я старомоден, я люблю лунный свет Я люблю старомодные вещи Стук дождя по оконному стеклу Звездная песня, которую поет Эйприл Фантазии этого года - преходящие фантазии Но вздыхая вздохами, держась за руки Это понимает мое сердце Я старомоден, но я не возражаю против этого Вот каким я хочу быть До тех пор, пока вы согласны Чтобы оставаться со мной старомодным. Я старомоден, но я не возражаю против этого Вот каким я хочу быть До тех пор, пока вы согласны Чтобы оставаться со мной старомодным.
