When we were aggressively paying off debt, we still had a small “allowance”. Everything else was so strict, it was nice to have some money without plans. We only had $50 or $100 each monthly. We still have allowances now that we are debt free, it’s just slightly more per month.

I give myself a $100 cash biweekly allowance($200 a month). Anything that I don’t use, rollover to my cash envelope. I ¡realize I don’t ever really use it since we budget everything into our monthly budget( gas, fast food,bills,etc). So that “allowance “ becomes an extra side saving.

🤣 I totally get it! We need our alone time, it’s a must! I’m going back and forth with treating myself or using the “allowance money” on everyone for breakfast on Saturday possibly Dunkin. 🤔 I don’t know…

Yes I give myself an allowance but because I’m on a debt free journey, debt payoff is my first priority, savings second and then I budget my allowance afterwards. I don’t do the percentage system yet because I want to payoff my debt. I’ll enjoy the 20% when I’m debt free😅. I love how you’re enjoying these videos too.

If you want to see more improvement for the student loan payments, you need to calculate the interest per day that would be added and ensure that your payment includes this amount so that you can start seeing reductions in principle (if you’re able; it’ll lead to paying less interest over time). You’ll have to update this after each payment is made. I use an excel sheet to complete this.

I will definitely look into that! Thank you! 🙌🏾 Hate seeing money literally go down the drain towards nothing. 🙅🏾♀️

@@ShamyraCYou’re welcome! Also, I’m not sure if you’re aware, you can deduct up to $2500 of your interest on your taxes. It’s one way to reduce the AGI (number used to determine your tax rate and tax amount for the year). It’s subject to phase out amounts, but it’s a great way to keep/put more money in your pocket

I give myself $125 biweekly. If I do not spend it all, I place it in my miscellaneous fund. I work hard, so I owe myself something besides the satisfaction of paying bills every 2 weeks . I say I can't be here to JUST work to pay bills 😊
@CravingCentsandSensibility5 күн бұрын
This! Because we really do work hard and when it all goes to bills it’s kind of sad.
