There's a possibility I saw that Fed-Ex MD-11around the 23:20 mark when it was getting built or painted. Beautiful takeoff. I was working for the telephone company at McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach when they were building the MD-11, MD-80 and C-17. I was lucky enough to have in-plant parking where I could drive everywhere inside the plant and in the paint shop building I got the see the brand new paint jobs for Fed-Ex, AA, Korean Airlines, Swissair just to name a few. Always awesome to see them masking off an airplane for a paint job and never heard of anyone using aircraft paint on their personal vehicles. Wink. Wink. One time I got to walk inside an MD-11 with just the floor and no other interior and It felt like you could throw a football in there. Hard to believe its been that long ago now and the plant buildings don't even exist now.

that fedex jumbojet , which plane was that one?? it had an engine at the tail, which i thought the DCs were the only ones built that way. i also thought there were no more DCs flying anymore. I could be wrong on both parts

After reading some of the comments I think i have it figured out. the MD 11 is basically like the DC-11 and it still has planes flying with the cargo carriers ...the DC 10s are no longer flying anymore. ( I am not quite the prolific enthusiast as most of the people that might be watching this channel or anything so that's why I was confused)

Yes apart from the fact that the old prop engine plane is even more noisy inside than watching a 737-M800 taking off. And the ear defenders don’t make much difference to the noise

Captain as you probably know that almost all prop engine planes have no reverse thrust. The reason being is that it would cause the engine shake to much and damage the blades also the planes are much lighter without it. So those planes with the reverse thrust have a disadvantage with the extra weight which means less power from the engines and more work to keep them running properly. It’s why Boeing is fitting the new 777-900 and 800 without the reverse thrust on the engines Airbus is going to do the same with the new A350-800 and 1041 and the upgraded A330-941 and 800 it means they will have much more powerful engines which means a faster flight and they can keep the planes at a higher altitude in the sky captain

Delta rocket from ATL-HQ to TPA for final Christmas snow bird service.ALASKA air special livery service leaving for SEA. The a300 Christmas boxes going to Louisville. G5 GA high roller experience. It’s the Delta rocket ship to ATL. A UPS rocket ship to SDF. Fed Ex tri holer leaving TPA with Christmas boxes to SDF. A GA with nice run. A frontier going to the zoo gates. A UAL leaving TPA on snow bird service. A FedEx tri holer on Christmas box patrol and WOS smash.

reason i say that is the first md 11 is n521 which has 2 main gear, the second one n591 has 3 main gear, the 3rd md11 appears to be n521 again. i know fedex had an upgrade program where they took ex airforce dc10-40's that had glass cockpits and refitted them to a md11 spec just was sure. @@CaptainStevenMarkovich

Often wonder why people fly around in private jets. They are so small, you can't even stand up straight in most of them. It seems to me it would be way more comfortable to use a larger turboprop type aircraft. Don't know about you, but I would rather be a bit slower and have the room to enjoy the flight rather than be stuffed into some tiny jet.
