As the saying in the firewood community goes, 'Ash is cash'. Always great to be bringing home the Benjamins.

The last 2 years of log loads have been 99% Ash with a little bit of Cherry and Maple.

Not much dead ash in my area. I myself have been evaluating my process to see how I can eliminate steps! Equipment is the answer but also an added cost. I love to do it so I guess it’s worth it to stay in the game. Take care Greg👍🏻👍🏻

Howdy Todd. Greg's way closer to me, let's see if I can get him some. He'll be real close to the 50 mile range here in NY

Mainly, beech, iron wood, and hard maple for me this year. Some elm but not very much.

South Eastern Ohio, very few ash left around here that are worth processing. This year I'm burning about the last of whats left on my property and a good bit of it was borderline not worth dragging in. It's sad to see my woods covered in downed trees that where once some of the best firewood out there. Now my red oaks are all coming down with a sickness and laying all over the place half rotten.

If you've left your downed red oak to rot on your wood lot, that's your loss. Red oak makes amazing firewood, so it's a shame to let it go to waste.

@@bwillan It's already rotten on the sapwood before it ever hits the ground, thats why they end up falling, the roots finally end up rotting off. I gather what I can but some of them are hanging off the side of the ridge and not easily gathered. If I lived on flatground I'd get em all. It's nearly a 400 foot climb to the top of my property from my house so you can imagine trying to billy goat half of that, let alone trying to gather heavy ass loads of firewood on some of that off camber trails. It burns good when you can get it out though for sure.

Great Greg. The Ash is still good here, for now. It's going to be gone soon though. Your processor is slick. 👍

Hello Friend! What size diameter log will your splitter handle? I was thinking the same thing is how you handle the firewood such a small amount. Great video as always! Keep safe and warm!

I'm doing about 10 cords and lots of saw logs of dead ash this year off my neighbor's lot in western MA. Sadly we're not going to have ash for much longer. It's a beautiful tree; great firewood and beautiful lumber.

Aw.. I thought you pulled the trigger on a new processor. Enjoying the ash while it lasts!

Looks like about time to upgrade your dump trailer lol, I wonder how many hundreds of cords it has hauled. Take care

There's a fine line between dead dry ash and dead punky ash. Leaving more trees in woods every day. Need to train your customers to season their own wood before ashnis gone.
@bwillan5 сағат бұрын
It really depends on who your customers are. If they're mainly people who use firewood for heating their homes, they probably already know to buy it ahead of time so it can dry out and be stacked properly. But if your customers are more into having backyard campfires or using firepits, they'll want firewood that's already dry and ready to burn.
