Some cars are easier to let go of than others, and the Mustang GT350 is one of those I'm dearly going to miss. In this episode I summarize my ownership experience with my GT350 and explain what makes it so magical.

Your intro reminded me of when I drove an old Honda Prelude. I was behind a lady on a 110 km lane, but she was only going 90 for some reason, I started to try and over take her, and as I got by her side, she sped up and wouldn't allow me to pass, and in front of me was an oncoming car. I was forced to slow down and get behind her. It still lingers in my mind... the feeling of being pissed off. LOL

@ryang91135 жыл бұрын
@@geoffkh463 I adored the Jaguar.....if you dont mind not having a manual transmission, the SVR will keep you smiling. I miss it sometimes but the overall driving experience of the GT350 is more enjoyable, largely due to the awesome manual transmission and 8250 redline. The SVR can border on absurd with the pops and bangs which I personally loved, and the gas mileage was far better than the GT350. How I drive, I get 11 mpg in the Shelby, but in the SVR i would average around 16-18....even up to 25 on long drives cruising in 8th. The 0-60 acceleration in the jag was also much better. GT350 has better handling, better overall sound, amazing driving when you really wanna give it a go, and a backseat area. You're in good hands either way you go. SVR puts you in the 200mph club too which is a little fun in itself.

I've seen a couple of instances where folks have bought used GT350 cars with very low mileage. And ended up shortly with a blown motor, or engine replacement. Obviously not all are like this. But I think a few of these have been beat up sitting on dealer lots and not properly broken in. At 8,000 miles on my 2018 and it doesn't appear to be burning oil. I broke it in and kept it under 6k most of the time and a majority under 4k rpm and varying engine speeds until 1000 miles. I then changed the oil.

It's one of the risks of buying used muscle cars and sports cars. Especially with manual transmissions. You know that the previous owner probably ran it on a track.
@Kraziken05 жыл бұрын

One thing to keep in mind. This GT350 will probably end up being the last ever mustang with manual transmission with stick shift and foot clutch. I think it's a great way to end the era of manual mustangs and the value of such a car will skyrocket if manuals are a thing of the past for entire auto industry. I'm keeping my 2016 GT 350 Track Pack just for that reason, besides it being such a fun car to drive. Every time I drive out feeling I should sell this car for practical reasons come back after the drive telling myself I will never sell this car. Now I just go for a drive whenever the thought occurs to vanish the thought. Works every time. Appreciate the oil consumption info.

I think the best choice for a replacement would be a C6 Z06, which you could get for around $40K. You would be getting a 500 hp+ NA engine with Titanium connecting rods in a 3100 lb car. You'd have more torque and a better hp to weight ratio which would translate to a car with better straight-line acceleration and handling around curves. With the Titanium con rods and the forged steel crank and its dry-sump oil system, you probably have a strong enough bottom end for a supercharger with moderate boost and probably get around 700 hp.

It may be that Ford designed the engine with loose tolerances in order to compensate for higher thermal expansion due to elevated temperatures from high horsepower applications. I bought a new Nissan 370Z sport coupe and my engine's oil consumption runs about 1 quart per 8K miles. I did do a very careful break-in and did two early oil changes at 700 and 2300 miles to get the metal wear particles out and so that may have helped in getting my rings well-seated with a minimum of abrasive wear on the engine's bearing surfaces.

Doesn’t have the straight line performance of the older GT500’s but makes up for it in many different ways. When you find a GT350 and if it is from a Ford dealer , ask them to run a Oasis on it. If the vehicle was serviced you will find out what issues it had if any. It’s a history of repair work only privy to ford dealers
