Wait, Mark Chapman killed one of the most loved and celebrated people in modern history, and he pleaded guilty to SECOND degree murder!? He took John Lennon from the world and he was actually allowed to plead guilty to a lesser charge than first degree murder!? I don't know how any judge or prosecutor would allow that...

I wish nobody had ever said or written a single word about that disgusting nullity. Never mentioned his name, never shown his insignificant face. Conversely, for 44 years he's had all the attention and fame he had always craved for. Every December 8th, we are forced to hear or read about him, that jerk of all jerks, as Paul Mccartney once wisely called him.

"for 44 years he's had all the attention and fame he had always craved for." You could argue that technically that isn't true. Like everything else Lennon's killer did in life, he failed miserably at it. When he pulled that trigger he didn't achieve fame. He achieved INFAMY. There's a difference.....
@Nickel1147

The murderer is a nothing. He failed at everything because he's a failure. He is an unattractive, talentless murderer, who proved he was totally useless by murdering John Lennon. John lives on in his music, every interview, photo and film. The murderer died to the world in 1980. I could not have sat and listened to his meaningless drivel,to provide an excuse as to why he was an utter failure and jerk of all jerks. He is a footnote nobody reads.

If John Lennon had not been a Beatle, or famous, how would the world around him look at his own values as a man? John had his own personal demons right from his depressed childhood, his mothers mental illness and death, his desertion of his wife and child, finally down to his date with Mark Chapman. Lennon was battling to try to kick a drug habit he’d developed and undergoing therapy, specifically the intense primal screaming therapy. His Song, Isolation could just as well been the state he lived for five years after Sean's birth. After all, John knew he broke up the Beatles and it haunted him. His many radical views did not sit well with the group and then, there was Yoko, Oh-, No, the wedge who pushed her way in. She even slutted him out to May Pang her assistant. No, John did not deserve what Chapman did, but he did open up a pandoras box for Chapman to step in.

Why do a documentary in which the murderer continues to be paid attention to? Wouldn’t it be amazing to see a Lennon bio-doc with no mention of the perpetrator? Killing someone loved by people like Lennon is different from one that people hated. Mark grew up to see JFK assassination, and there was no fame for Oswald. Killing someone that people love is an attack on that people, I think. That's why we get angry for taking someone from us. Maybe it was not about Lennon, but about us. Lennon may have been a victim for our obsessions, not Mark's obsession. What have we become to allow such a great genius like Lennon to be so targeted? I miss Lennon's advant garde music. I'm currently trying to hear his life in his music.

There is always a search to understand WHY people do what they do. The person committing the most heinous acts are assumed to be good people deep down. It is always due to someone else or something else: a bad upbringing, drugs, a psychological disorder of some kind, but never at fault is the person who did the act. A drunk driver crashes a car and kills a whole family… we blame the bar where the guy was drinking, or the State for being too lax on liquor license requirements, or even the family for driving home too late at night, but NEVER the drunk driver. Why? John Lennon was murdered. We blame it on guns, we blame J. D. Salinger for writing The Catcher in the Rye, we even blame it on a psychological disorder that we’re still trying to diagnose today because we refuse to believe that Mark David Chapman is a bad guy. So it has to be something else. I don’t buy that. What he did was evil, and the reason he did it was so that people would know who he is. Now, he will forever be a historical figure. He should never be let out of prison.

DOA? But they tried to revive him?
@kerryn6714
@kerryn6714 2 күн бұрын
@jlbaker2000 Oh yes, they tried to revive him at the hospital. They opened his chest with splitters so they could access his heart and lungs. I've seen an interview with the main Doctor in the ER. He actually held Johns heart in his hand to manually pump it. Unfortunately, that's when they realised that one of the bullets had pierced Johns heart. There was absolutely nothing the ER staff could do to save him.

I still think he was set up. I cant say but i don't think it happened the way its been told. Yet he does look crazy eyed. Chapman was a loser. Lennon wrote some great songs. The loser Chapman didn't stop those.

@@johndenverfan mate no one is judgeing John, but he wasn't always a good person. Hit used to hit women, neglected Julian, made fun of Mal evens death.. John wasn't a nice person. I'm not saying he was like ginger Baker, but John had a bad attitude, he wasn't nice to people.
